Norwegian Royal Family at Holmenkollen
As every year, the Norwegian Royal Family watched the World Cup Ski Jumping at Holmenkollen in Oslo on March 11th, 2012.
King Harald and Queen Sonja, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit, Princess Ingrid Alexandra, Prince Sverre Magnus and Princess Astrid were all present, and also brought the Crown Princely Family’s dog, Milly Cocoa, with them. The whole family was in a good mood and enjoyed the day together.
On the same day, Princess Astrid was awarded the ‘Birkebeinerplaketten’, the highest honor of the Skiing Association whose chairman, Ole Fr. Anker-Rasch, said: “The Royal Family’s interest in skiing in general and the Holmenkollen ski races in particular are of great importance for the Norwegian people, skiing, Holmenkollen and the Skiing Association. Princess Astrid has been present for more than 70 Holmenkollen competitions, always committed and enthusiastic. The award of theBirkebeinerplaketten to the Princess happens in appreciation and gratitude for this.”
King Harald and Princess Astrid also attended the Women’s Ski Jumping and Cross-Country Skiing World Cups that have taken place at Holmenkollen the days before.Filed under Norway
