Last Saturday, His Excellency Don Inaki Urdangarín, the Duke of Palma de Mallorca, arrived at the High Court of Palma de Mallorca via a side entrance. The husband of Infanta Cristina of Spain had been summoned to appear before the court to give evidence over allegations regarding the misappropriation of several millions euros of public funds.

Before entering the High Court, Don Inaki stopped briefly to speak to the gathered press, where he told them, “I stand today to prove my innocence, my honor and my profession. During these years I have exercised my responsibility and I have made decisions correctly and with full transparency. My intention today is to clarify the truth of the facts.”

The Duke of Palma de Mallorca and his wife, Infanta Cristina, had arrived in Palma de Mallorca the night before, however the Infanta did not accompany her husband to court. Don Inaki also appeared before the court the following day, but has since returned to Washington DC with his wife.
