Princess Marie Gives Birth to a Baby Girl

The Danish Royal Court has announced that Princess Marie gave birth to a baby girl a short time ago.

The infant was born at 08:27, at the Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen. She weighed 2930 grams and was 49 centimetres in length.

The official press release read:

“Her Royal Highness Princess Marie has on Tuesday January 24th, 2012 at 08:27 at the Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen given birth to a Princess.

Weight: 2930grams, Length: 49cm.

Mother and baby are well.

His Royal Highness Prince Joachim was the whole time at the Rigshospitalet.

The infant Princess is the second child for Princess Marie and her husband, Prince Joachim. They have an almost-three year old son, Prince Henrik; while Prince Joachim has two older sons, Princes Nikolai and Felix, with his first wife, the Countess of Frederiksborg, who are twelve and nine.
