Official Visit to The Republic of Chile by Felipe & Letizia

Their Royal Highnesses The Prince nd Princess of Asturias undertook an official visit to The Republic of Chile on Monday November 21st. The 4-day visit was the couple’s first trip to Chile.

The Prince and Princess departed from Madrid’s Barajas Airport on Monday, November 21st.

On Tuesday, November 22nd the Prince and Princess’ first official act was a wreath laying ceremony at the Statue of the Chilean Liberator, Bernardo O’Higgins, in Santiago. Following that act, Felipe and Letizia paid a visit to the President and First Lady of The Republic of Chile at the Palace of La Moneda. Here the Prince and Princess were greeted with an official reception and later attended meetings with the President and First Lady.

Their Royal Highnesses went on to open ‘Investment Forum and Business Meeting Spain-Chile’ which took place at the Convention Center Hotel Sheraton Tower. Felipe and Letizia later paid a visit to the National Congress of Chile.

That night, the Prince and Princess were guests of honour at the official gala dinner which was hosted by the President and First Lady at the Palace of La Moneda.

On Wednesday, November 23rd His Royal Highness attended the opening of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Santiago and then went on to attend a meeting with the Spanish Community in Chile. An official luncheon was later hosted for Their Royal Highnesses at the Spanish Embassy.
