Week of Events for Belgian Crown Prince Couple

On Monday 25 October, Crown Prince Philippe had a meet with a delegation of the Royal Belgian Equestrian Federation.The meeting took place at the Royal Palace in Brussels. Crown Prince Philippe received Belgian jockeys who won medals at the World Equestrian Games two weeks ago in Lexington (Kentucky).

The delegation was led by Jacky Buchmann, president of the Belgian Federation of Equestrian Sports. Crown Prince Philippe has congratulated all the jockeys for their good results.

The Belgians Team have brought back four medals from the World Equestrian Games.

The same day, in the evening, Crown Prince Philippe attended the 15th edition of the Enterprise of the year 2010 award ceremony, organised by Ernst & Young in collaboration with the Daily Echo and BNP Paribas. This year the award was won by “Exki”.

“Exki” is a fast food company launched in 2000. The fast food is present in most major cities and the company has also developed the international market with more restaurant open in Paris, Luxemburg, Turin and Milan. The company employs 390 employees.

On Monday 25 October, Crown Princess Mathilde was present at the end of a congress Solvay Brussels School of Economic and Management in Brussels.

The Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management is a management school. It was founded in 1903 by Ernest Solvay. More than 2,000 students attend some thirty programmes at the School today. Its current president is Mathias Dewatripont.

On October 26, Crown Prince Philippe and Crown Princess Mathilde have visited the “Public Center for social assistance” in Namur. The Crown Prince Couple attended three workshop on social inclusion dedicated to the visual arts, energy and cycling.

These workshops are especially designed to fight against the isolation of people with uncertain futures, helping to recreate social ties.

Philippe and Mathilde were greeted by an honor guard made up of staff from Namur Public Center. After this they visited the old people’s home “Les Chardonnerets” which hosts 105 seniors. The prince and the princess then participated in a short business meeting, before eating in the refectory of the home with several residents.

The “Public Center for social assistance” employs 756 people. Its 2010 budget amounts to over 72 million.
