Queen Beatrix, Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien attended a play in honour of their late husband and father, Prince Claus, on December 6th.

The play, entitled CLAUS!, showcased the late Prince’s love of Africa, and his relationship with the Dutch Antilles and Suriname. CLAUS! was produced by the Stichting Julius Lives! foundation, under the initiative of Dutch MP John Leerdam. The play was completely sold-out, which is a wonderful demonstration of the affection the Dutch people had for Prince Claus, who died on October 6th, 2002.

After the play, which according to the foundation website “tells the story of humanity, hope, disappointment and the quest for love”, the royals chatted with the cast and crew, before posing for a few photographs with the cast.

Prince Claus will be remembered once more on December 16th, with the entire royal family attending the annual presentation of the Prince Claus Prize, which has this year been awarded to Colombian architect Simon Velez.
