Archduchess Fransesca Receives Golden Order of Merit

On November 25th, Archduchess Francesca of Austria (née baroness Thyssen-Bornemisza) was honored with the order of Golden Merit of the province of Vienna, Austria. The Archduchess who is married to the heir of the cheif of the House of Habsburg, Austria’s former Imperial family, received the order from the Andreas Mailath-Pokorny. She recveived the order for her work with the foundation “Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary”.

Apart from her husband Karl, their children Eleonora (15), Ferdinand Zwonimir (12) and Gloria (10), other relatives attended too. Karl’s brother Archduke Georg came with his wife Archduchess Eilika (née Duchess of Oldenburg) and Fransesca’s mother Fiona Campbell-Walters also attended the ceremony. According to the Kurier, ‘toute Vienna’ came, among them Bianca Jagger. The Archduchess, known as ‘La Magnifica’ to friends, was almost crying when she thanked everybody for coming. She said she felt like a small stone in the crown of Vienna.
