The Ruby Jubilee celebrations of Queen Margrethe II of Denmark continued yesterday, with a full day of events to mark the Queen’s anniversary. It began with the Queen’s 500th State Council meeting at Christiansborg Palace in the morning. Following their visit to Roskilde Cathedral yesterday, the Danish Royal Family continued with the celebrations marking Queen Margrethe II’s fortieth anniversary as monarch in Copenhagen. The first of the 2012 Danish New Year’s Court took place yesterday evening in Copenhagen. The New Year’s Court for the members of the Order of the Elephant, Denmark’s highest order, was held at Christian VII’s Palace, Amalienborg. The Cambridge Lovers Knot Tiara was made by Garrad in November 1913 for Queen Mary.
