The King and Queen of the Netherlands have begun their state visit to Denmark, arriving in Copenhagen this morning. Ahead of her abdication tomorrow, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands tonight hosted a black-tie dinner at the recently renovated Rijksmuseum for foreign guests. Guests, which included foreign heirs to the throne, members of the Dutch government and former Dutch territory governments, began arriving at around 7:30pm, for the 8pm dinner. Princess Christina has been the victim of theft recently, as a number of her jewels were stolen from her apartment at the Royal Palace of Stockholm. The jewels were stolen by a 19-year-old friend of the Princess’s husband, Mr Tord Magnuson, who was being mentored by Magnuson. In an audience earlier today at Amalienborg, Queen Margrethe II was presented with her jubilee gift from Greenland’s parliament and home rule government. The gift consists of a tiara and earrings set, made by Greenlandic goldsmith Nicolai Appel. The tiara, named Nassut and meaning ‘Flowers from Greenland’, was made of melted gold coins, the gold of which was mined from the Kirkespirdalen mine in Greenland.
