Royals in Denmark and Norway Mark 500 Years Since The Reformation

The 500th anniversary of the Reformation was celebrated in Denmark and Norway today, with members of each respective country’s royal family in attendance. Sayako Kuroda Made Supreme Priestess Of Holiest Shinto Shrine

In accordance with decades-long tradition, Sayako Kuroda has been named the supreme priestess of Ise Jingū. She is replacing her aunt, Atsuko Ikeda, who held the position since 1988. Queen Margrethe Attends Service Celebrating 500 Years Since The Reformation

The Queen of Denmark was present on Sunday afternoon at the Haderslev Cathedral for a national service of worship marking the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. Wearing a bubblegum pink suit, Queen Margrethe II joined Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen and the President of the Folketinget, Pia Kjærsgaard, for the service.  The Reformation took place on October 31, 1517 with Martin Luther’s Ninety-five Theses.
