Last night princess Máxima and princess Margriet of The Netherlands surprised royalty watchers by their choice of jewelry during the gala dinner for Michelle Bachelet, president of Chile. Dutch Royals Attend Memorial Service For Victims ‘Apeldoorn’

Queen Beatrix, the prince of Orange, Princess Máxima, Princess Margriet and Prof. Pieter van Vollenhoven attended the memorial service for the victms of the Queen’s Day tragedy that was held tonight in the Orpheus theatre in Apeldoorn. Volkskrant reports that two car-park attendents of the private company ‘Parkeercombinatie Holland’ wrote two fines for the two Audi cars that were wrongly parked at the pavement in front of the shop of ‘Oger’ in the PC Hooftstraat. Dutch Royals Visit Koninginnedag Crash Wounded

Following the attempt on their lives at Thursday’s Koninginnedag (Queen’s Day) festivities in Apeldoorn, several members of the Dutch Royal Family yesterday visited the wounded victims of the tragic car crash which has claimed six lives, plus that of the perpetrator. Pieter van Vollenhoven: Meter Caused Plane Crash

Prof. Mr. Pieter van Vollenhoven, bother-in-law of Dutch queen Beatrix, today announced that a faulty altitude meter probably is the cause of the crash of an airplane of Turkish Airways near Schiphol Airport one week ago. Queen Beatrix has sent her deepest condolences, expressing her profound sadness, to the victims of yesterday’s aeroplane crash and their families. The Queen is in contact with the authorities in being updated on the crash. Nine people were killed and eighty-six injured when Turkish Airlines Flight 1951, en route from Istanbul, crashed on its approach to the Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.
