Dutch Celebrate First Koningsdag in 124 Years

The Dutch Royal Family yesterday celebrated the first Koningsdag in 124 years, in the towns of De Rijp and Amstelveen. These were the towns originally scheduled for the event in 2013, but were postponed due to the abdication ceremonies. Dutch Royal Family Participate in NL DOET 2014

The Dutch Royal Family participated on Friday March 21 in the National Volunteer Day, NL DOET. King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima helped at the zoo Akkertje in Rijswijk. At this zoo, people with intellectual disabilities take care of the animals under supervision. The King, in the rain, helped out by placing poles along a ditch, along which later a fence was tensioned and he also painted. Dutch Royals Celebrate Koninginnedag

The Dutch Royal Family yesterday celebrated the official birthday of Queen Beatrix, Koninginnedag, in the towns of Rhenen and Veenendaal. Queen Beatrix was joined by two of her sons and daughters-in-law, her sister, and nephews and their wives for the festivities. Maurits & Marilène Take Vermeer and Rembrandt To Vancouver

Princess Marilène is currently in Vancouver, Canada. The princess was accompanied by her husband, prince Maurits of orange-Nassau, eldest son of princess Margriet of The Netherlands and Prof. Mr. Pieter van Vollenhoven. The princess opened the exhibition as she is working at the PR department of the Rijksmuseum.
