Prince Willem-Alexander and Princess Maxima this year were much more active in the Netherlands compared to last year. The Dutch Royal Family have today celebrated Prinsjesdag, the traditional opening of parliament. At 13:00, the royal family departed from Noordeinde Palace in the Golden Coach and the Gala State Sedan, headed for the Parliamentary Halls in The Hague. Dutch Royals Gather In Brussels For Routes Award

Tuesday afternoon, princess Margriet, Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien of The Netherlands gathered in Brussels to attend the award ceremony of the ‘Routes Award’. The award of the European Cultural Fund was given to Stefan Kaegi and Borka Pavicevic. Queen Beatrix Reopens the Royal Palace in Amsterdam

Yesterday queen Beatrix reopened the royal palace on Dam square in Amsterdam. The palace was closed for 3,5 years as the interior was adapted. The palace, that was originally built as a city hall in 1648, got new kitchens and bathrooms, furniture was restaured, 45.000 kilo of asbestos was removed and the chandeliers that were found on the attic were restaured and used in several rooms of the palace. Last night princess Máxima and princess Margriet of The Netherlands surprised royalty watchers by their choice of jewelry during the gala dinner for Michelle Bachelet, president of Chile. Following the attempt on their lives at Thursday’s Koninginnedag (Queen’s Day) festivities in Apeldoorn, several members of the Dutch Royal Family yesterday visited the wounded victims of the tragic car crash which has claimed six lives, plus that of the perpetrator.
