The package, which was addressed to HRH Princess Madeleine, the youngest child of TM King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia, was found to contain mix tapes, undergarments, a love letter to the Princess and a proposal – but no bomb.
Anika Sonnerberg, a spokeswoman for the royal court, spoke to the New York Post following the incident, confirming that all security protocol was followed with regards to the package. “The security scanned it as they always do with packages sent to the royal family. There was nothing dangerous in it,” she said.
A police investigation is currently underway, with the US State Department believed to have been called in to assist the NYPD in locating the package’s sender.
Princess Madeleine, who is on a month-long visit to New York to work with the Foundation, was not in the building at the time of the incident. Queen Silvia will join her daughter later this month for the Foundation’s 10th anniversary gala.

Today the Royal Family of Sweden attended the annual opening of the House of the Parliament in Stockholm. It was pened shorty after two o’clock in the afternoon. The men attended the opening in dark suits and ties, the women in dark dresses and hats. The Royal woman are always dressed in dark colours, in an intentional homage to the old court dress, which was worn until 1974 and was made of black velvet with white detailing.
The day started with a church service in the Stockholm Cathedral. At 1 o’clock the Army Music Corps played and the Grenadiers from the Life Guards paraded at the Parliament grounds. A folk dance danced inside the Parliament and folk musicians and music classes sung.
Around 2 o’clock King Carl XVI Gustaf, Queen Silvia, CP Victoria, Prince carl Phillip and Princess Madeleine arrived with a royal cortège. They were greeted by the Speaker of the Parliament. The King held a short speech and declared the Parliament open.

HRH Princess Madeleine was yesterday awarded 400,000€ in damages by the Court of Hamburg. The case was against German company the Klambt Group, which owns several tabloid magazines. Those relevant to this case were Frau mit Herz and Welt der Frau.
The Princess was awarded the money, which is believed to be going to a charitable organisation, for the false articles and stories the two magazines ran regarding the Princess’ love life, marriage plans and rumoured pregnancies; totaling 86 articles between 2000 and 2004. The Court delivered the verdict based on the violation of Princess Madeleine’s human rights. The amount set by the Court to be paid by Klambt Group is the highest ever in German history in such a case.
The Court did rule, however, that the magazines did not have to publish retractions or corrections on the false stories, as they were “no longer in the minds of the people.”
