Princess Beatrix Turns 76

Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands turned 76 years old on January 31st. The former Queen Regnant of the Dutch Kingdom was born at the Soestdijk Palace in Baarn, Netherlands in 1938. Her parents were the future Queen Juliana of the Netherlands and her German husband, Prince Bernhard of Lippe-Biesterfeld. President Hollande Visits the Netherlands

The President of the Republic of France, Francois Hollande, yesterday paid a visit to the Netherlands. On Wednesday December 11th, Princess Beatrix, Prince Constantijn, Princess Laurentien and Princess Mabel attended the “Prince Claus Award” ceremony. Princess Beatrix Breaks Cheekbone

Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands has broken her cheekbone, the RVD (Government Information Service) announced today. The Princess underwent an operation to fix the break today. She will spend a few days recuperating in hospital, before returning to Huis ten Bosch Palace to recover. She suffered the break in a fall at her home, Huis ten Bosch.

Dutch Royals attend Remembrance and Liberation Day

The commemorations for the Remembrance and Liberation Day coincided, this year, with the first public event for King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima after the Inauguration of April 30th. Bea Hosts Black-Tie Dinner Ahead of Abdication

Ahead of her abdication tomorrow, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands tonight hosted a black-tie dinner at the recently renovated Rijksmuseum for foreign guests. As per tradition, this year the Dutch Royal Family attended the National Volunteer Day, NL DOET, on March 15 and 16. Queen Beatrix has announced today, 28 January 2013, that she will abdicate on 30 April 2013 in favor of her oldest son, the Prince of Orange, Prince Willem-Alexander.
