King Albert and Queen Paola of Belgium are on a three-day state visit to Romania, at the invitation of the Romanian President, Traian Basescu. Today, June 7, is Election Day in Belgium. People have to elect representatives for the European Parliament and the regional Parliaments (Flemish, Wallonian, Brussels Parliaments). Denmark’s Margrethe II Names New Prime Minister

Yesterday, Queen Margrethe II named Lars Løkke Rasmussen as the 40th Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Denmark, the fifth in her reign. The decision came after the previous Prime Minster, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, handed her his resignation to become the Secretary General of NATO. Luxembourg Parliament Removes Grand Duke’s Power

The Luxembourg Government passed an amendment to Article 34 of the Luxembourg Constitution on March 12th, removing Grand Duke Henri’s power to vote on parliamentary matters. The Grand Duke now has a more ceremonial role in the Government; while he must sign the acts and bills of parliament, he does not enact them.
