King Michael I, the 89-year-old former King of Romania, issued a royal decree on Tuesday May 10th, stating that the Romanian Royal Family would no longer be connected to the House of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen, the German Princely House from whom the royal family descends. From today, Romania has a new Prince; he is Nicholas de Roumanie Medforth-Mills, grandson of former King Michael I and third in the line of succession to the (defunct) Romanian throne.
