The centre has extensive experience with people who have experienced deep crisis in their lives. This year’s Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to the Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Liberia’s peace activist Leymah Gbowee and Yemen’s human rights activist Tawakkul Karman “for their non-violent struggle for the safety of women and for women’s rights to full participation in peace-building work”, according to a release from the prize committee.
