On this day in 1906 Princess Friedrich-Karl of Prussia -mother of the Duchess of Connaught- died of a stroke at Friederoda in Germany. Sixty-five years ago royal Europe gathered on May 10th 1951 in Nancy, France, to witness the wedding of Archduke Otto of Austria, head of the imperial family, to Princess Regina of Saxe-Meiningen. Flashback Friday: George V’s Silver Jubilee Celebration

May 6, 1935: the British Royal Family gathers in London to celebrate the silver jubilee of King George V. Among the celebrations were a carriage ride through the streets of the capital, a thanksgiving service at St Paul’s Cathedral, and a balcony appearance at Buckingham Palace. Here are some photographs from the day, including the adorable little Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret in matching coats and cloche hats.
