Abdullah & Rania visit Syria

Their Majesties King Abdullah and Queen Rania visited Syria on an invitation from Syrian President Bashar Assad and his wife Asma Assad. King Abdullah and President Basharheld a meeting where they discussed bilateral relations and regional and international issues. Syrian president and his wife held an iftar banquet in honor of their majesties.

The royals took their two youngest children Princess Salma and Prince Hashem on the short visit to Syria.

Jordan’s King & Queen hosts iftar banquet for government officials

 Their Majesties King Abdullah and Queen Rania Abdullah of Jordan hosted an iftar banquet for government senior officials and diplomatic mission and their wives in Amman at the King Al Hussein Bin Talal Convention Center at the Dead Sea. The event was also attended by a few students. King Abdullah preformed Maghrib prayer with the guests.

King Abdullah meets Maktoob founders

His Majesty King Abdullah of Jordan met with the founders of Maktoob.com, Samih Toukan and Hussam Khoury on Wednesday. The King congratulated them on their recent sale of their company to US Internet giant Yahoo!. During the meeting, King Abdullah expressed his happines and pride in the two men’s accomplishment which King Abdullah said it reflects development of the IT sector in Jordan, he also conferred the Al Hussein Medal for Distinguished Performance of the First Order to both Toukan and Khoury.

Yahoo had brough mktoob in August 2009. Maktoob has over 16.5million followers and is an Arabic language website. The deal of the sale was that Yahoo would offer Arabic-language content for the first time and versions of its products and services including instant messaging and e-mail in Arabic.

UAE President meets with Jordan King Abdullah

President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan held talks on Monday evening with King of Jordan His Majesty Abdullah II in Abu Dhabi. King Abdullah and his entourage were welcomed by Sheikh Khalifa. The two leaders discussed relations between the two countries and ways to bolster them in different fields in the best interest of the two countries, they also exchanged views on current worldwide situations. After the meeting, King Abdullah expressed his pleasure about visiting the UAE and meeting Sheikh Khalifa.

Sheikh Khalifa hosted a banquet in honour of the King Abdullah and his entourage.

Jordan Royal Family’s Summer Holiday

King Abdullah of Jordan, Queen Rania and their four children have been enjoying Italy and the South of France according to Rania’s twitter enteries and pictures. Queen Rania was spotted shopping and walking around Porto Cervo, Sardenia. Speaking about Italy, Queen Rania said on her twitter page “In Italy…gosh I hadn’t realized how much I’d missed it!”

After Sardenia, the royal family went to the South of France. Queen Rania met with supermodel Naomi Campbell and her boyfriend Russian billionaire Vladimir Doronin while leaving Club 55 where she was having lunch with the family. King Abdullah and Queen Rania met with the French president Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni where Queen Rania said on her twitter page “Just had lovely casual lunch with President Sarkozy and Carla at their holiday retreat..Nice to see him so well and relaxed. Such natural surroundings only infuse him with more passion and focus 4 advancement of his people. Carla of course, is gorgeous, inside & out. (sic)” King Abdullah made time for his Harley Davidson while their yacht was docked.

The family and friends where staying on a yacht that could take up to 36 guests and 30 crew members. It had a jacuzzi, gym, childrens play room which were among the many other rooms available.

Abdullah participates in an economic conference in the US

 King Abdullah II and Queen Rania Al Abdullah are in the United States on a few day visit. On Friday, King Abdullah participated in an economic conference held in US state of Idaho which was attended by Queen Rania and Crown Princes Hussein bin Abdullah. At the conference, King Abdullah talked about the need a two-state solution to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the need to relaunch Palestinian-Israeli negotiations. ” This process guarantees establishment of an independent Palestinian state on national Palestinian soil and ensures security and acceptance for Israel,” the King added.

On the sidelines of the Idaho economic conference, King Abdullah discussed with Colombian leader Alvaro Uribe ways to boost bilateral cooperation ties and Mideast developments.

King Abdullah is on a few days private visit with Queen Rania to the United States. So far, the economic conference was the only event on the agenda.

New Crown Prince Named for Jordan

 Jordan’s King Abdullah II issued a decree on Thursday naming his eldest son, Hussein 15 years old as crown prince. In a palace statement that was released yesterday said “immediately assume the title and privileges of his post”.

The post of heir apparent has been un-named since 2004 when King Abdullah removed the crown prince title from his half brother, Hamzeh. King Abdullah became King in 1999. Queen Rania is the mother of Crown Prince Hussein.

Abdullah and President of Turkmenistan hold talks

 His Majesty King Abdullah II and Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov held talks in Amman which continued over a lunch banquet which held by His Majesty in honour of the Turkmenistan president and his accompanying delegation. King Abdullah and the Turkmenistan President discussed cooperation in the fields of education, culture, health, trade and investment. They also talked about efforts on how to achieve permanent and comprehensive peace in the Middle East. President Mukhamedov was on an official visit o the Kingdom of Jordan. King Abdullah visited Turkmenistan in April 2008.

King & Queen honour Ahel Al Himmeh winners

 King Abdullah and Queen Rania honoured the 10 Ahel Al Himmeh winners in a ceremony at the Roman Amphitheatre in Amman Sunday evening. Queen Rania launched the Queen Rania award in March for for Community Champion which was to to celebrate the 10th anniversary of King Abdullah’s accession to the Throne.

The initiative had received about 45,000 nominations from across the country. The committee then choose 30 finalists one. On June 10th, the public voted for the 10 winners through their mobile phones, sending more than 600,000 SMS. “You can find a lot of people who are Ahel Al Himmeh, they are all over Jordan. The final nominees, who are with us tonight, represent thousands of Jordanians who work to help others, whether as individuals, groups or associations, bringing together volunteers to strengthen their community,” the Queen said at the televised celebration.

Abdullah & Rania at No 10

His Majesty King Abdullah II held talks with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown in London on July 22. They discussed efforts to launch serious negotiations to solve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on the basis of the two-state solution. His Majesty said “Failure to reach peace and the continuation of the conflict threaten Israel, the Palestinians, Arab states as well as world peace and stability.” King Abdullah and Prime Minister also talked about cooperation between the two countries and ways boosting them in various fields.

Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah also met at Downing Street with wife of the British prime minister Sarah Brown. and discussed issues of common interest as well as cooperation in various fields.
