Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall: Tour of Canada - May 18-21, 2014

Future "apolitical" head of state of one of the free world's political institutions isn't allowed to freely comment about what is clearly tyrannical behaviour on the part of Putin. That doesn't exactly look all that great, either. If you want something really controversial, how about the...

Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall: Tour of Canada - May 18-21, 2014

The CBC's behaved itself fairly well the lest few days, but of course they couldn't resist latching onto this and making much more of it than necessary. Somehow the tweet of one insignificant Labour MP suddenly represents to voice of the British political establishment on this matter.

Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall: Tour of Canada - May 18-21, 2014

I don't see what the controversy is, the invasion of Crimea was compared to the Anschluß and occupation of the Sudetenland by a number of politicians here in Canada.

Who's idea was that? I watched part of the performance on CPAC a short while ago and it was absolutely dreadful.

Shame that the homecoming is so brief that it can be referred to as a "whirlwind tour".

Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall: Tour of Canada - May 18-21, 2014

Curious to see how extensive the CBC's coverage will be this time around. They seem to be plugging the TRH's homecoming with more enthusiasm than in the past. Yet they chose to repeatedly run that sensationalist doc yesterday...

Charles as King: Choice of Regnal Name

Needless to say, members of the Royal Family are adept at taking these things in stride - just because people make all sorts of gaffs or try to gratify themselves for one reason or another by overly forward/familiar, doesn't mean that it's proper and that it should be emulated.

Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall: Tour of Canada - May 18-21, 2014

If I had to choose between the two I would prefer to go to PEI. I've read that this visit is in part meant to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of WWI and Canada's significant participation. Please don't tell me that one parade in Halifax is going to be the extent of Royal...

Charles as King: Choice of Regnal Name

It doesn't take long for people to become accustomed to a new name. While I personally believe that The Prince of Wales will choose Charles III, it wouldn't surprise me if he goes with another names, something unique to define what will unfortunately probably be a relatively short reign.

Great job CBC. If you're going to advertise that you'll broadcast the arrival live, then do so -- even if there's a delay. The Passionate Eye episode is a repeat and could easily have been rescheduled or missed just this once.

Charles as King: Choice of Regnal Name

Not at all. I referred to it as a "long-shot guess". But if he choses Louis or some other name not used before, I would understand why he would do so. He will have a relatively short reign, and therefore it would be a gentle way of beginning his reign with a mark of distinction.

Charles as King: Choice of Regnal Name

I don't know who would sincerely consider the name to be "unlucky". This is the kind of stuff that the tabloids like to stir up, but for the average person Charles III would probably seem the logical choice and be accepted for what it is.
