Duchess of Cambridge: What Now for Catherine? Future Duties, Roles, Responsibilities

I'm not sure where number of engagements is obtained. Googling found me these: The Royal Family’s engagements in 2012 The Royal Family’s engagements in 2013 Relevant to this discussion, several things are clear. First, Kate didn't come anywhere close to 100 engagements in either year. Second...

The Duchess of Cambridge Current Events 4: January 2014-February 2015

Extremely well-toned. In fact, suspiciously well-toned considering that their owner supposedly hasn't been able to get out of bed for two months. Those legs look like they've been working very hard with the personal trainer during Kate's "debilitating illness".

The Duchess of Cambridge is pregnant with a second child

Millions of women go back to work shortly after baby #2 is born, with a daycare center being their only help. And "work" consists of 40 hours a week, not being chauffeured to an event for an hour of small talk once or twice a month. So yes, I think the Duchess could step up her engagements, even...

Duchess of Cambridge: What Now for Catherine? Future Duties, Roles, Responsibilities

I'm American, so it's possible I don't understand the purpose of royal patronage duties. But it seems to me that the whole point is to call attention to the charity, for the purpose of fundraising. I might add that I think this is a very worthy "job" and one which the royals are uniquely...

Duchess of Cambridge: What Now for Catherine? Future Duties, Roles, Responsibilities

^^ Let's hope she can manage to keep her bottom covered up on her next trip! I have been a huge fan of the Duchess until recently. The dress fly-ups have made me start to re-think that. She knows very well it's a continuing problem, and she knows there are solutions. Yet she continues to risk...

Prince William and Catherine Middleton: Church Service - April 29, 2011

As far as I know, it was pure preference. I loved it though; it was something different and had an old-world feel.

I agree it was well done; I didn't mean to criticize Kate! I thought it was charming, as if the two of them were sharing a private moment.

Very true, although there's probably a vast difference between being around royals and being royal. And there's a vast difference between being 19 and being 28, or being from a broken home and being from an intact home, or marrying for dynasty versus marrying for love, or dating for 6 months...

Wedding of William & Catherine: Reflections on the Royal Wedding

Impossible to pick one, but my personal highlights: Harry's backward glance at the altar and comment to William. These two brothers, so different, are eternally bound. Harry, like many a best man, developed a little crush on the bride. Watch him watching her when she first arrives at the...

Prince William and Catherine Middleton: Church Service - April 29, 2011

Before the engagement interview, he is supposed to have asked her protectively if she was OK. This is one of the lessons he learned from his parents' marriage, and one of the reasons I think they have a good chance at a successful marriage: he saw what happened when a young woman is thrown...

I'm glad I'm not the only who had that thought! To me, Kate's smile said, "I did good, yes?" and the Queen's said, "Yes you did."

Another little thing I noticed: When Kate curtsied, she did not incline her head. She held the Queen's gaze, with a big smile on her face. The Queen did not look displeased. :-)

^^ I agree, BritishSwede! Anyone who thinks they were unhappy to be there missed an awful lot of eye contact they had with each other throughout the ceremony. It's not inconsistent to say that they were happy to be getting married and, at the same time, terribly nervous about the circumstances...

Well, Queen Penelope, some of us aren't overly impressed with FoxNews's accuracy in general. I'll take your version!

Prince William and Catherine Middleton: Church Service - April 29, 2011

My gripe about the coverage: They spent so much time showing wide shots of the abbey, and closeups of the guests, that I missed a few moments that I wanted to see. When William first saw Kate, we were getting an overhead shot; I would like to have seen his first reaction. Also, whenever...

Right, just as Phillip is a prince because he's not the monarch. Thanks for the HM clarification; that was the part I wasn't sure about.

So her title is HRH Duchess of Cambridge. Is Princess William also a title, or is it a name of sorts?

Prince William and Catherine Middleton: Church Service - April 29, 2011

Just to make sure I have this straight regarding titles: 1. Marrying a prince did not make Kate a princess. The only way she would be a princess right now is if the Queen had specifically decreed it. 2. When William becomes the heir and is invested as the Prince of Wales, Kate will...

Prince William and Catherine Middleton: Church Service - April 29, 2011

They've been saying there will be a reception at 7pm hosted by Charles, followed by dinner and speeches. That will be followed by a nightclub-style blowout for the young guests, which is being run by Harry and Pippa. That is all happening at the Palace, so we should see them all driving back...

According to FoxNews, William's comment to Kate when she arrived at the altar: "You look stunning, babe."

Prince William and Catherine Middleton: Church Service - April 29, 2011

Was it just me, or did Kate look really drawn and strained thoughout the ceremony? Of course, she had the weight of the world on her shoulders and there were reports that she hadn't been sleeping for several nights. But I was a tad worried that she'd pass out.
