Queen Saleha of Brunei today turns seventy years old. She was born in 1946 as one of six children born to Pengiran Anak Abdul Rahman, Speaker of the Brunei Legislative Council, and his wife Pengiran Anak Hajah Besar. At the Museo del Prado today, Queen Letizia was present at the board meeting for international patrons of the Friends of the Prado Museum Foundation. During the meeting the attendees discussed the Museum’s bicentennial, as well as the Foundation’s 2016 projects. The RVD has confirmed that Princess Beatrix underwent knee replacement surgery today at the Franciscus/Vlietland Hospital in Schiedam. Orthopaedic surgeons Dr Marcel Driessen and Dr Stefan Breugem performed the surgery, which replaced the Princess’s right knee with a prostheses. She had a similar surgery performed on her left knee back in 2005. Princess Beatrix will remain in hospital for a few days, before undertaking rehabilitation at home.
