Second son for Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank -Ernest George Ronnie; May 30

I'm happy for them that they have a healthy son, and are no doubt happy with their 2 boys. I personally strongly dislike the name Ernest, but clearly they must like it. My opinion doesn't really matter. I also dislike using Ronnie rather than Ronald, but again, not my kid, not my decision.

The Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla, 6 May 2023

Absolutely. Crowned beside the love of his life.

    A 2nd Boy for Guillaume and Stéphanie - François: March 27, 2023

François is a somewhat surprising name, but one I'm very happy to see. I've always liked the name (and its variants in other languages). While it isn't used a lot, especially as a first name in the Luxembourg family, it is among the given names for his father's cousin, Wenceslas, Prince of...

    Rules of Succession

Saudi succession Saudi succession has traditionally been that the eldest (or most capable) male in the family succeed the ruling king. For many decades, the sons of King Abdulaziz have succeeded to the throne. Abdul Aziz died in 1953 and six of his sons have succeeded since. The current king...

"Spare" memoir by the Duke of Sussex (2023)

I have to wonder whether Meghan read this book before it was released. I'm not sure, based on the excerpts I've seen and the comments here, how she could have thought it was a good idea. Harry I get. He's not too bright and utterly incapable of self-analysis. Meghan, however, should have been...

"Spare" memoir by the Duke of Sussex (2023)

I've long thought Harry was very much behind the break of the Sussex family from the BRF more so than Meghan. What is becoming clear with the excerpts is that Harry is so much worse than I thought, as a person. I thought perhaps he was even gaslighting Meghan. Now I think he may be too stupid to...

Prince William Named Prince of Wales

This is true, however it's still lazy and disrespectful. It would be easy enough to slip in a stock, "the former Kate Middleton" or something of the sort in their articles to have the search term without deliberately misnaming her.

Windsor/Mountbatten-Windsor: Name of Royal House and Surname

This is true from a paternal-line standpoint. It remains to be seen whether Charles will adopt a different House name. It's always been done in the UK before, but in continental Europe, the House names no longer follow the male line, but the line of the sovereign, as in the Netherlands, where...

Prince William Named Prince of Wales

Slightly off-topic, but is there a chance that now that Catherine is Princess of Wales (as much as Diana was, I know the specifics of the correct styling) that journalists will stop always referring to her as Kate Middleton?

Questions about British Styles and Titles 2: Sep 2022 - Aug 2023

I'm not sure why there couldn't be letters patent. It shouldn't take that long to draft one. And truthfully, it isn't like they didn't know this would come, it could have been prepared well in advance just awaiting the signature of the King.

Charles III: Accession to the Throne: 8 September, 2022

In addition to Charles II not really being in any way unfortunate, and being a popular king, I didn't expect him to select George VII, though I know that was suggested decades ago. I have a few reasons why I thought that - 1. The last King George died 70 years ago - it wasn't like with Prince...

Death of HM Queen Elizabeth II: 8 September 2022

My family and I were at Queen Elizabeth's Trooping of the Color for her official birthday celebrations in 1981. Shortly before the marriage of Charles and Diana, we stood in the crowds as HM rode past and other family members rode as well or went by in carriages. I was 8 and didn't really see...

Death of HM Queen Elizabeth II: 8 September 2022

It is hard to process that HM is gone. I'm nearly 50 and have not seen another British monarch in my lifetime until now. HM was on the throne 20 years before I was even born. I have no doubt that HM Charles III and Queen Camilla will serve the nation and the Commonwealth well, despite not...

The Queen: Would She Consider Abdication or Retirement?

I'm not sure why this is still an ongoing topic of conversation, as HM as made it clear for 70 years that she will reign until death. Charles may become regent if she becomes too ill to do the job, but that's it. Rehashing it over and over seems redundant. Not meaning to be rude, simply not...

General News and Information for The Duchess of Cornwall

Exactly. People opposing Camilla as Queen seem to not be able to let go of some idea that Diana was perfect and that Camilla is the evil one who wronged her. Diana was not perfect and it was pretty clear that the marriage was doomed from the start even if Camilla hadn't been in the picture ...
