When a baby is born it is customary for an elder male in the family to whisper the "azaan" or call to prayer into their ear. This is usually done as soon as possible after the birth so that the baby's first sounds are the words of God.
Some like to feed the newborn honey, a tiny amount obviously, so that they taste somthing sweet soon after birth.
