lets say Mary and Frederik have a girl and they name her Margrethe, and then she has a girl, and she has a girl then the there will only be Margrethes!
but if they were to call her Sophie-Amalie
we could in the future see Margrethe the 3 and then Sophie-Amalie the 2 and so on

Since women only have partial right of succession, it would be very unlikely that there would ever be any need for a second name. And it's not a "tradition" it's royal protocol.
