It is certainly confusing enough, when you're a student of history and try to make sense of the Merovingan kings... in texts in Norwegian, Danish, French and English... and they all seem to use different names on them. That was gruesome.
I too hope it is a thing of the past, but you never know :) And I know how confusing those names of the Merovingan kings are in historical texts in different languages, since I am a student of history

Frankly, I don't understand why names should change in different languages, you are called how the name is spelled/pronounced in your country. But I can also see that some names are hard to pronounce in some languages.
