Granted, we have a long tradition of calling the Jameses Jakob, Louis= Ludvig, Mary = Maria, etc.
It is certainly confusing enough, when you're a student of history and try to make sense of the Merovingan kings... in texts in Norwegian, Danish, French and English... and they all seem to use different names on them.

That was gruesome.
