Picture of the Month: April 2006

Welcome to April's Picture of the Month poll!

To emphasize that the Picture of the Month polls are different from other polls around the forum, and that the emphasis should be on the pictures rather than the royal houses for which they represent, instead of the country name, the pictures are embedded into the poll choices this month. To see the image in its full size, click on the thumbnail to enlarge.

This month, our Picture of the Month representatives had help in selecting their images with a small committee of their choosing. Below, you can see each royal house's representative (in bold) followed by their chosen committee members.

Belgium: Mette2 - Dennism, pdas1201 and Danielle

Spain: mtbcm - LaChicaMadrilena, Elsa M., Anna_R

Jordan: Humera - Little_star

Morocco: Humera - Amira

Brunei: Humera - Warren

Monaco: tbhrc - Ianna, Michelle, Iceflower

Japan: mandyy - kei893265, merampo

Norway: purple_platinum - Larzen, LaMinka

Sweden: purple_platinum - Lena

Luxembourg: suturegeisha - drimal

The Netherlands: The Watcher - Marengo, Maxie

Britain: princejohnny25 - ysbel, HMQueenElizabethII, Avalon

Denmark: H.M. Margrethe - Mandy, norwegianne, pdas1201

The poll will be open for three weeks. It will close on June 2. During these three weeks, we ask that no one state whom they've voted for so as not to influence other members as they make their choices. For the final week of the month, you can discuss as much as you'd like about which image you voted for and why.

Please note that the pictures in the above poll have been posted in a random order, first by their shape (portrait or landscape), and do not reflect any personal feelings of The Moderating Team.

Due to the server problems the past two weeks making access for everyone sporadic, as well as offline committments, April's Picture of the Month comes two weeks late. Fortunately, May is a longer month, so we are cutting things a bit tightly but the same guidelines will follow for this month.

There will be three weeks of voting as usual, which will take us into June and overlap with the beginning of the June poll by a few days. Then after that members may comment on whichever image they chose and why, while simultaneously being able to vote for June's Picture of the Month.

So many wonderful photos, it's hard to choose. Thanks to everyone for putting this together. Now I just have to figure out which one to vote for!

margotantoinette 05-13-2006 03:22 PM

Amelie 05-13-2006 11:49 PM

i was hoping the dutch photo would be of maxima with/without maurits jumping on the queens day celebrations for the computer simulated game to jump and bite a piece of cake. it was hilarious.

Elspeth 05-13-2006 11:55 PM

A reminder not to say which photo you voted for. General discussion is fine, but posts will be deleted if they identify the photo that was voted for.

Yes, that was definitely hilarious. But it has been a busy month for the DRF, so choosing a pic was extremely difficult this time, especially with the problems TRF was facing lately. :)

giaga 05-15-2006 08:10 PM

This is going to be very close.

bbb 05-16-2006 10:36 AM

thanks for all your effort, great photos, so hard to choose

Princejohnny25 05-16-2006 05:47 PM

I just noticed that in the swedish picture the Duke of Brabant is the only one wearing the sash correctly. If its a white tie event the sash is worn under the arm and not over the shoulder like the other guys.

Glistening Seas 05-16-2006 06:53 PM

Congratulations to all the winners! :)

crisiñaki 06-03-2006 01:29 AM

wow, congratulations to Sweden!
it is really a nice picture, it shows the next generation of European rulers in one shot which is very rare to find:)

Warren 06-03-2006 10:03 AM

Forget the back row, it's the tiaras that won it! :D

Larzen 06-03-2006 10:45 AM

I think so too;)
Its nice that the "grown ups" managed to win one and not just the toddlers. It was the most difficult month to choose so far, I also very much liked the picture of a blushing Prince Harry infront of his grandmother:D
