Even though Lady Sarah Chatto leads a fairly private life, post pictures and news items on this understated royal and her family here.

:flower: FYI- Lady Sarah is not Royal, she does not have the style, dignity or attribute of HRH. She is the daughter of an Earl, therefore she is only intitled to the courtesy title of "Lady". She is not even a member of the peerage. Only her father is a peer. She is a commoner. [Even though she is also the daughter of an HRH, she gets her status through her father only].

[Before you jump on what I said, I do agree that she is a member of the extended Royal Family].

Julia 10-31-2003 04:38 PM

Lady Sarah as godmother or bridesmaid - she has been chosen a number of times. Please help me create a list of the occasions (could be for royal or "almost royal" people:

Bridesmaid:

Princess Anne, 1973
...Lord Lichfield (?) I think, c. 1978
Lady Sarah Spencer, 1980
Lady Diana Spencer, 1981

Godmother:

Prince Harry, 1984
...a Linley baby (?)
Lady Louise, 2004

I wonder how many children of Sarah and her husband.. two children or three children

I only know two children son and daugther right...

thank you
karla

Sarah and Daniel Chatto have two sons: Arthur and Samuel Chatto, I believe. They don't have any daughters.

Have you got Sarah mixed up with her cousin, Lady Helen Taylor, daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Kent? Helen and her husband, gallery owner Tim Taylor, have two sons, Columbus and Cassius and daughter Eloise.

Lady Jean 06-04-2004 09:59 AM

Daniel Chatto had a bit part in at least one episode of "To the Manor Born." I was watching it the other day and was surprised to see him, and his name was in the credits. It was the episode when they get married. Daniel played "Heatherington-Poole." This was filmed in around 1981. He sure is a handsome lad.

CathyEarnshaw 06-04-2004 11:02 AM

Daniel retired as an actor some years ago ...and now works as an artist.

tiaraprin 06-04-2004 09:53 PM

Thank you for the lovely pics of Sarah and her family!! I have always greatly admired Lady Sarah for her poise in the public eye and in the face of family troubles. She has stayed above the fray much like Her Majesty the Queen, and she is much to be congratulated!! ;)

Lady Jean 06-07-2004 08:59 AM

It may have been the last episode (?)

Dennism 06-07-2004 10:06 AM

Yes. The last episode is where they get marry and I remember the scene of where they couple is standing at the top of a staircase with all of the guests at the bottom of it.

Did Lady Sarah and Daniel attend the Golden Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 2002?Do you have pics?

CathyEarnshaw 06-23-2004 07:35 AM

Yes, Lady Sarah and Daniel attended the Golden Jubilee service.

Lady Sarah Chatto has a great smile. She has that horsey, comfortable look of the Windsors. Although she is not a raving beauty like Caroline (was) or Alexandra is, her smile and down-to-earth manner make her seem really likeable to me. I read somewhere that she is a super, super favorite relative of QEII. Somehow she has managed to not be controversial or embarrass the Queen ever. Kudos to her! And what a great smile. Did I say that already? :P

More great photos, Iceflower! Sarah's never been a raving beauty, but she has a sense of class about her that not all of the royal beauties out there have attained. I've never heard anything scandalous about her. She seems very level-headed and low key, which is quite becoming. Despite everything written and said about Princess Margaret, she must have done something right as a parent to have turned out two seemingly "normal", intelligent and family-focused children.

iceflower 07-10-2006 04:41 PM

I agree with you in all points, Bella :) The only thing that confused me about the latest pics I found is, that Sarah looks a bit sad on them. Well, maybe I'm totally wrong and it's only a shy smile - actually you can't smile all the time ;)

You are so right Bella. I am much more encouraged by Princess Margaret's children than the children of Her Majesty especially in the area of matrimony and family.

I agree with the comments made today. I think she would prefer not to get press attention, but always deals with it graciously. I would love to meet her, she seems very down-to-earth and nice. I suspect her beauty within makes her an all around very attractive lady.

princess olga 07-10-2006 06:07 PM

I think it's a shy smile. The other thing about Sarah is that she doesn't seem to ever age at all! Lucky her!
Agree she's one of the best royals out there.

Lady Sarah Chatto - Does she have a title?

Other than Lady Armstrong-Jones, does Sarah Chatto have a title. I know her husband has the title Daniel Chatto, St George Sproule. Is this an educational title or a royal one? Would she be St George Sprouless?

Please help a confused soul -THANKS!

Elspeth 06-05-2007 01:30 AM

Sproule is his actual surname, as it was his father's. The rest are Christian names, and he has no title. He's an actor and artist, and apparently he thought Chatto would be a better last name than Sproule for professional purposes.

I do not understand the use of a different surname, bit silly to change your name unless it is very a very embaressing one.

From Richard Kay's column in The Daily Mail
23 December 2007

Quote:

Princess Margaret's daughter Lady Sarah Chatto ventured to a West End theatre the other night and found herself being squirted by a water pistol.

Lady Sarah and her artist husband Daniel took their children Samuel, 11, and eight-year-old Arthur to Potted Potter, a comedy based loosely on the Harry Potter stories.

At one point in the play, an actor pulls out an enormous water gun and lets loose at the audience.

Lady Sarah and her party had sensibly taken backrow seats at the Trafalgar Studios venue, but they still got more than an eyeful.

Unstuffy Sarah laughed happily — perhaps delighted that a couple of newspaper critics a row in front of her took the brunt of the deluge.

SOURCE

Alison20 12-23-2007 08:41 PM

The answer to Windsorbrides1, is that Sarah has a courtesy title, as befits the daughter of an Earl. She was Lady Sarah Armstrong-Jones, and, since her husband has no title, she can keep the Lady and add her new surname - Lady Sarah Chatto. If she had married someone with her title, whether higher or lower than hers, she would have changed her title to the appropriate one for his wife. However, her husband has no title himself, nor does he get one from her (that doesn't happen in Britain). Her children also have no title, as they have none to inherit from their father.

No problem, RP! In fact, I was puttering around on YouTube and found a video clip of Daniel Chatto playing Prince Andrew. The video is very low quality, but you can clearly see him walking beside "Prince Charles" in the wedding scenes about five minutes in:

I have always liked Sarah. She herself is a very talented artist. The Queen seems to be especially fond of Sarah and I can see why - she is discreet and never
embarasses the royal family. With Princess Margaret now deceased, I think that the Queen tries to always include Sarah and David Linley in family get-togethers.

I adore her style! Her way of dressing is immecable. She is the one in the family who should have entered the fashion business.
Perhaps Sarah looks so sad recently is because the health of her father, the Earl of Snowden, is somewhat precarious.

Daniel looks just like his mum. Lovely to see them out.

Hi. I think Samuel was a Page of Honour today. Last year a Chatto-boy was a Page too
Sorry, the Page of Honour was Arthur Chatto. You can read in the Court Circular. Have a nice day

So nice to see them! Arthur indeed bears a striking resemblance to his mother.

Was Arthur the one in the middle? (I refer to the video), If so, could somebody post a picture? It would be lovely, thanks.

I caught a glimpse of Sarah on the tv footage of the Christmas day walk to Church but haven't managed to find a good photo. She looked very stylish( as usual) in a dark coloured coat. Can anyone help?

Check the website The Royal Order of Sartorial Splendor. I think she has a picture of Lady Sarah.
