Lord Lichfield was a photographic genius. His portrait of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh is up on my wall - the one he took for the Jubilee. One of his best. Has anyone got the one he took of Margaret Thatcher at 80?

The father of a friend of mine was a photographer in the UK and a good friend of Lord Lichfield. My friend says that he was a really nice man. It is such a shame and he was relatively young.

What a wonderful man and photographer.

My sympathies go out to his three children, Tom - 6th Earl of Lichfield now, and Ladies Rose and Eloise.

He truly had a talent and passion for his vocation and will be missed....

Lord Lichfield was a very talented photographer and a very charming man but I always was uncomfortable with his attitudes towards women. He seemed to regard women as pretty jewels to look at rather than full three dimensional human beings.

He also had affairs with several common women while reserving marriage for ladies of the aristocracy. I have no problem with marrying within your class but I do have a problem with having one set of criteria for women you have romantic relationships with and another for women you marry.

Quick question...the Hellomagazine article said his mother was Princess Anne of Denmark. I am not familiar with her...can someone provide me with some info. Thanks!

Anne Bowes-Lyon was a member of the Queen Mother's family. Her first husband was Lord Lichfield's father. She later married Prince George of Denmark.

btsnyder 11-11-2005 03:37 PM

Anne Ferelith Bowes-Lyon was the daughter of Hon. John Herbert Bowes-Lyon (of the Earls of Strathmore and Kinghorne) and Hon. Fenella Hepburn-Stuart-Forbes-Trefusis (of the Baron's Clinton).

She was born on 4 December 1917 at Washington DC, USA. She married Major Thomas William Arnold Anson, Viscount Anson (son of Thomas Edward Anson, 4th Earl of Lichfield and Evelyn Maud Keppel) on 28 April 1938. She and Major Thomas William Arnold Anson, Viscount Anson were divorced in 1948.

She married HH Georg, Prince of Denmark, son of HRH Axel, Prince of Denmark and HRH Margareta, Princess of Sweden, on 16 September 1950 at Glamis Castle, Glamis, Angus, Scotland.

Princess Anne of Denmark was awarded the Order of the Elephant by Queen Margrethe 2 on the 16th of April 1974.

Princess Anne died on 26 September 1980 at age 62 at London, England, UK.

My sympathies to his family, especially his three children. I know Lady Eloise Anson particulary idolised him.

How terrible. May his soul rest in peace.

This was a great aristocratic match; unfortunately the marriage didn't last. Lady Leonora Grosvenor is the daughter of the Duke of Westminster, one of Britain's richest men. As an aside, she was a potential bride for the Prince of Wales at one time. But she decided she didn't want the restrictions of Royal life, so it came to nothing.

Was lord Lichfield divorced?

I have just had a look at,

They divorced "circa 1986".

Here's something else that's interesting...

Children of Thomas Edward Anson, 4th Earl of Lichfield and Evelyn Maud Keppel
Lt.-Col. Thomas William Arnold Anson, Viscount Anson+ b. 4 May 1913, d. 18 Mar 1958

The late Earl was the son of Viscount Anson. Anson's mother was a Keppel. Camilla's extended family pop up in the most unexpected places!
