Certainly, I have seen that every Royal House has a different way of raising the information when a baby is born. No country does it like other one.
In case of Spain it seems that we will find out about the precise moment in which the Princess joins the clinic, since the Zarzuela will warn to the mass media immediately by means of a message to mobile telephone.
When it is born the baby there will be an official communique where one is in the habit of saying the sex of the baby and the name. Later the Prince will attend to the journalists together with the doctor to comment on all the details and they will drink with champagne.
Later it will be necessary to wait to see the baby up to the exit of the clinic, depending on the weather they were putting in the exterior of the clinic or maybe in the Zarzuela. Normally the first-born one the grandparents are in the habit of putting the being also. The Royal Spanish House is not in the habit of offering images of the baby before the exit of the clinic, but I have the hope that this time they do it to the being the son of the Princes and on having had so many press waiting. But this only is a desire, they never do it.;)

There are rumor amongst the journalist in Spain that Felipe and Letizia went in a fertility center to have a boy, and that the boy will be born by c-section. Don't know if it's true, but the one who said me that said his source was usually very reliable.

In Spain there are many wicked rumors. In Spain is not legal to choose the sex of a baby genetically how it is not they bequeath in many countries, so the one who says it is accusing them of a crime. The one who said it is the bastard son of Alfonso XIIII, a major, misogynous enough gentleman and that devotes himself to earn money in the programs of television telling his histories. If he says these things it is to go to a program of television.
It without telling that the treatment of fertility is practically impossible, bearing in mind that approximately when this baby was conceived itsparents were in a trip for Brazil and Uruguay with a very tight agenda .... if the people were using the intelligence and was informed better they would not believe so many people and so many absurd rumors.

There are people who says many barbarities and many of these barbarities belong to ignorant people. The question of if he is a boy or girl is a political question, and the situation is not so serious how not to be able to be solved if a girl is born, which happens is that there are a lot of interests.

Thanks to everyone who explained the gender question, I don't speak Spanish, but in French, there are feminine and masculine words, so it must be like that in Spanish too.

It's very simple: to speak of an unborn baby, spanish people say "hijo", a "general" word, who means only baby. But hijo means too "son", so man makes confusion.

Lula: I didn't say I believed these rumors.

The journalists must be tired of waiting :p ....But it is their fault for going forward so much and to become nervous to all...

The vice-president of the International School of Protocol, Gerardo Correas, stated that the date for the baptism of the child of the Princes of Asturias will depend on questions of agenda, but that it will surely take place at the Palace of La Zarzuela and performed by the military archbishop, Monsignor Francisco Perez González and Monsignor Rouco Varela, with the attendance of the president of the Government, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero.

As far as the name is concerned, this expert on protocol says that it will be decided by the parents, as it happens in every family, although it is true that, formerly, the names of the baby’s grandparents and predecessors used to be taken into account.

If there wasn’t the presence of the journalists and police outside, nobody would say that Princess Letizia is about to give birth in the Ruber Clinic. When one passes the front door, tranquillity invades the reception of the hospital.

Several rooms open their windows to a small garden, crossed, once in a while, by the police. A recent mom says: "They spend the whole day like that. I don't know whether they are in the whole hospital or not, but, so far, they have not come in my room".

It is not exact date, clearly, but the illumination is closely together. Maximum expectation before the near birth of the son of the Princes of Asturias. Quite prepared in the clinic Ruber, where they make reporters and onlookers a police officer. The housings " with conference " to the hospital of Madrid are rented to golden price.

King, prince, and infante in an alone photo

Mariángel Alcázar 30/10/2005

When dona Letizia gives birth her first baby it will produce a historical fact for that it is necessary to mend to the times of Carlos III. For the first time for more than 200 years a princess of Asturias will bring to the world a future king in life of the grandfather and sovereignly in exercise. The historical vicissitudes for which the Spanish monarchy has passed and the minor life expectations in the past centuries only three generations have allowed to bring together of borbones in an alone occasion (Carlos III, his son Carlos and his grandson Fernando) in more than three centuries that have passed from the beginning of the reign of Felipe V. Juan Carlos I prince of Asturias will be able to do a photo to him with his son and successor, Felipe de Borbón, and with the child of this one, the first infante of Spain Borbón Ortiz.
When don Felipe was born, his father and his grandfather was living, but don Juan was not a king in exercise. When there was born don Juan Carlos, his grandfather, Alfonso XIII was exiled. Don Juan was born in life of his father, but his grandfather Alfonso XII had died enclosed before there was born his own son Alfonso XIII, who was posthumous. Isabel II already was a queen when she had her son Alfonso and she herself was born when her father, Fernando VII, was a king, and his grandfather, Carlos IV, was already buried in El Escorial.
To return to find a precedent, it is necessary to mend to Carlos III, king of Spain in 1784 year in which the princess Maria Luisa of Parma, wife of the prince of Asturias, future Carlos IV, gave birth the infante Fernando, who in 1808 rose to the throne as Fernando VII.

The press needs to chill, the baby will be born when it is born. In anycase, I thought this piece was good. An opinion piece from Pilar Cernuda—a serious and seasoned journalist—on the coming babe:

The arrival of the heir

There is a carp mounted before the door of the Ruber, dozens of journalists have given up the "bridge" (holiday) of All the Saints, the television programs and radio have ready their "Special editions", the newspapers have had printed for days their booklets on the birth of the heir and the Royal experts in protocol, houses, heráldica and questions of the nobility know that their mobile telephones can ring at any time because they have offered themselves to give opinion on the son or daughter of the Princes of Asturias.

There is reason for the sense of expectancy, so that the princess of Asturias has more protagonism than Maragall. It has been more than ninety years since a child has been born in Spain who will be king or queen, because when D. Felipe came into the world it was in no way clear that one day the Monarchy would be restored. And that baby, with all the center of attention upon it, has the focus on his person for still more special reasons: its sex can force a quick constitutional modification, according to some experts, and in addition its birth consecrates the journalist Letizia Ortiz like a princess who has fulfilled her main obligation: to give an heir to the Throne. Although for most of the Spaniards, to whom it did not matter that the Prince married a woman who did not belong to the nobility and in addition she had been through a divorce, what affects them, what moves them, is that with this baby the Princes continue what without question is a history of love written with capital letters. Although detractors remain their position of criticism is everyday a more and more untenable position, and in some cases that position of criticism is directly related to the income that said position provides them when they defend it in different forums, a position in which they often falsify the truth until exceeding the limits of what is ethically and professionally tolerable.

The boy or girl is born with several breads under the arm but with a question on their forehead. If a boy, all is resolved. If a girl, it will be necessary to make constitutional decisions before a second Infante is born, in case it is a boy. That argument is the one that has been considered in these months and the one that will return to consideration in the days of the birth.

Therefore, what is most important: the succession will be guaranteed, whether the Princes have a son or a daughter. That is to say, after the present heir, D. Felipe, the second person in the line of succession will be that boy or girl that is going to be born and whose sex is know solely by doctor Recansens, although since the pregnancy of Doña Letizia was announced there have been sources of all the kinds that have assured they know the sex, the test results which supposedly Doña Letizia had been put under, and who have affirmed to have direct testimonies on the baby's state. False. The Princes do not know if they are going to have a son or daughter. The Prince did not want to know and Doña Letizia therefore decided not to know the sex of her baby, as she would not be able to share with her husband that news. They will know when the baby is born, and the doctor who takes care of the Princess is the only person who knows what she is going to bring to the world.

Therefore, what matters, it is that the succession is guaranteed. If it is a boy, the Crown would not be in the center of a debate of constitutional reform. If it is a girl, the Crown does not have to be in the center of the debate, or at least the Royal House does not want it to be thus. It does not seem to them advisable that the constitutional reform is centered on an accepted subject that the Spaniards have perfectly assumed and: all the parties, without exception, gathering almost unanimous feeling of the citizens, are in favor of which the Constitution modifies the prevalence of the man on the woman in the line of succession. But that change requires approval in the Parliament, to dissolve the parliament, to call elections, to approve the modification in the new parliament and next to celebrate a referendum. If the Constitution must be modified in other aspects - Senate, autonomic communities, European legislation, those related to the succession will be included in those modifications, but if it is decided to postpone the reform for political reasons that can escape no one, the desire of the Royal House is that that debate not be opened only because the rights of one infanta or one infante are in play. And we can be sure that if a boy is born after a girl there will be studies of rigorous constitutionalists who will know how to interpret the Constitution so that the girl who was born first can reign one day. It is difficult that somebody would be against an interpretation of the Constitution in that sense.

Therefore, tranquility before the birth. The important thing is that a baby is going to be born, a child destined to reign. And it is important, also, that the Princes take a new step in their moving history of love.
