Princess Margriet is certainly a great "asset" to the Dutch royal family, isn't she? And a constant source of support for her sister the Queen.

Is Princess Margriet the only one of Queen Beatrix's sisters who perform royal duties steadily? I don't think Princess Irene does much, but what about the other sisters?

The Watcher 11-18-2003 11:59 AM

Princess Juliana has four daughters: Beatrix, Irene, Margriet and Christina. Irene and Christina have give up their rights on the trone. Irene, because she married with the spanish catholic prince Carlos Hugo. And Christina married also with a catholic man and she is almost blind, so...
But Margriet counts for ten, so she is a great help for the Queen. :)

What a great series of photographs. Isabella, Anna, Lucas and Samuel are absolutely adorable. I'm loving the ones of Magriet holding baby Samuel - he is getting so big. :)

Here are the pictures -- indeed a great set as Gabriella mentioned. It seems that Princess Margriet and her family particpate in more of these types of photoshoots? There were new pictures on the royal family's web site in the fall (but old ones of Queen Beatrix's family) and now these great pictures.

I love how natural the family seems, too, together and in front of the cameras. This seems like a very close knit family, and obviusly Princess Margriet is loving being a grandmother of four (and soon five!). Only wish Aimee and Annette could've been part of the family portratis, too! ;)

19 January 2005 -- Princess Margriet of the Netherlands and her husband Mr. Pieter van Vollenhoven in the garden of their residence, together with their children and their grandchildren: Prince Maurits, Princess marilene and their two children Anna (3) and Lucas (2); Prnce Bernhard Jr. and Princess Annette and their two children Isabella (2) and Samuel (8 months old, also together with his godmother Princess Margriet). Also in the group are the two youngest sons, the Princes Pieter-Christiaan and Floris.
