November 5, 2004: German President Horst Koehler and the First Lady were at the Royal Palace today to meet Queen Beatrix.
Princess Maxima and Pieter van Vollenhoven were also present. |
Very nice seeing Maxima there.
Do u know the late Queen Juliana? What should we call her?Because during her funeral, sometimes i saw Princess Juliana, sometimes Queen Juliana. Why? |
AFter her abdication she was styled as Princess Juliana (it was her own wish, she said that she should not want to stay queen for a little). After her death the court issued a statement that Juliana will henceforth be referred to as 'Queen Juliana' again.
|
PS Beatrix means 'she who maks happy' .. that is qhy Juliana chose this name (as she did with Irene = 'she who makes happy' and Margriet (daisy = symbol of the dutch resistance during WWII)

Yes, that's true.
When she visited the victims of the horrible fire in Volendam she looked like this also. She seems very moved with all the people there. |
