Nice reception. I am not so overwhelmed by the outfit of Queen Mathilde, I must say. Looked a bit of a granny print dress to me. No disrespect intended.

is that a custom of the swedish court not to wear hats (as in the spanish court)? Mathilde wore hats in all the previous introductory visit....

The swedish royal ladies wear hats at the state visits when the program includes official events outside the Palace, but not at events like this.

That´s true, Ladyfinn. But it´s not only a swedish thing. Elizabeth II doesn´t wear hats meeting presidents (usually only republican presidents made introductory visits in the past) for their introductory visits, either, at her doorstep at Buckingham Palace.
And as far as I remember hats weren´t used for the introductory visit of Willem Alex and Maxima to Norway, too.
Queen Mathilde wore a hat for her visit to London because she and the King had other engagements to do before going to Buckingham Palace (Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey), where the british Queen, of course, didn´t wear a hat inside her home!

I liked the way King Carl Gustav greeted the guests (see photo 20140429_PD1421).

When King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima visited Stockholm, there were no hats either. It depends on the outside events. In Luxembourg there was an inspection of a Guard of Honour on the Place Guillaume II in front of the palace, so Queen Máxima and Grand Duchess María Teresa wore hats. In The Hague, the King and Queen officially received their Belgian guests outside the palace, so both Queens wore hats.

Today in Stockholm King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia received their guests inside the Royal Palace, then usually no hats are worn.

The respective royal families must appreciate this meeting since they have a well established relationship. The greetings are quite warm between the ladies, and formal between the men, so far so good.

Making a link with earlier messages about the quality of the relationship between the king and Daniel, my impression was that the hand shake between them is a bit at the minimum level. I hope I am wrong...

I know they're going to Norway tomorrow, but what are the dates for their other visits?
Any more coming up?

What should the King and the Duke of Västergötland (=Daniel) do? Hug each other, kiss each other any time they see? There is also a difference between Philippe and Carl XVI Gustaf: they are equals. Daniel is not only greeting his father-in-law, he is also greeting his King...

I don't know much about the relationship between King Carl Gustav and his son in law, but I suppose whatever kind of relationship they have, they were in the middle of an official engagement and behaved as such

they still have to re-set a date for the visit to Spain. It was due back in March or at the beginning of April ...I don't remember... but due to the national mourning for the death of a former Prime Minister, the visit has been deleted.
I think they will visit Denmark as well, there's not a date yet though

Exactly. They were greeting Their Majesties The King and Queen of the Belgians. This was no time and place for father-and-son-in-law cuddle and coo.

All pictures and videos are great
I agree that from the video we can not conclude the exact situation between the King and Daniel.

I hope they're coming to Denmark soon but unfortunately nothing is scheduled.
