February 18, 2014 - Mathilde in a brown coat with the front top part in fur matched with boots that come above the knee and a brown hat.

The coat is a pretty color but would've preferred if the fur went all the way round. The hat is cute but the boots are hideous IMO.

Front view ** Close up ** Side view

maria-olivia 02-18-2014 10:06 AM

Yesterday in Germany and never looking tired !

Frelinghighness 02-18-2014 10:11 AM

Too weird looking for me. Nice hat and smile.

Al_bina 02-18-2014 01:09 PM

The karakul-looking embellishment on the coat looked odd. I am not sure about the colour. The hat was all right.

Barbara21 02-18-2014 02:09 PM

I do not know what to say. I like the colour and full view, but the fur looks
weird for me, especially on the side view.

HereditaryPrincess 02-18-2014 03:05 PM

The colour is nice, but that's about it. The hat and dress look a bit odd.

udyusa 02-18-2014 03:11 PM

I'm not liking this outfit. I don't think it is flattering at all.

MARG 02-18-2014 04:00 PM

:previous: What on earth was she thinking? There is absolutely nothing to like about this ensemble, from the top of her head to the tip of her toes . . . it's just wrong!

Mathilde is usually either a bit boring or terrific but I can't remember the last time she did plain old ugly!

Roslyn 02-18-2014 04:19 PM

Not sure about that crinkled furry-looking part, but she looks warm! :D

maria-olivia 02-18-2014 04:53 PM

To morrow Italy and which color ?

julliette 02-18-2014 08:21 PM

I think she looks very nice. I agree with dazzling that the fur should go all the way round, instead it creates an weird effect in the side view. But seen from the front is a beautiful coat.

Queen Mathilde looking beautiful and elegant in a new Armani combination in Rome, Italy, today, February 19, 2014:

** Full view 1 ** Full view 2 ** Upper part **

HereditaryPrincess 02-19-2014 09:01 AM

I'm not so keen on the pattern or top half of the dress, but that aside, Mathilde does indeed look beautiful and elegant. That silver colour suits her well.

dbarn67 02-19-2014 09:43 AM

Lovely, I really like this look though I think the hat should have been the soft solid grey rather than the pattern. She really is quite regal and elegant.

Jacknch 02-19-2014 01:17 PM

My goodness, I don't think I have ever seen Queen Mathilde look so elegant!

princess carmen 02-19-2014 01:29 PM

I like the coat I would love to know if that is a dress or skirt and blouse underneath.

Al_bina 02-19-2014 02:03 PM

Queen Mathilde looked elegant. I liked the soft silver grey colour and tailoring. Wearing Armani was a nice gesture.

Emmily 02-19-2014 03:29 PM

Very beautiful.

Roslyn 02-19-2014 03:38 PM

Very beautiful and elegant indeed!

MARG 02-19-2014 03:49 PM

Wow, that's more like it Queen Mathilde! I use her title because today she is Regal!

Barbara21 02-20-2014 04:58 AM

I'm surprised that the silver color suits her so well. The coat is my favourite, beautiful and regal. But this hat did not work for me.

°GŁacala! This is what happens when you convert a piece for modesty-especially a piece that had circles drawn around the bust. Geez, better care should have been taken.

However, with the coat, this look was amazing!!

dazzling 02-21-2014 04:03 AM

The coat is lovely and a lovely look of the bolero but the dress being the same idea is just a lack of imagination IMO. The dress would've been nicer with if it was plain or same fabric without the bolero idea. I also don't like the hat being the same fabric of the outfit.

I do not really understand how it is. A dress with a kind of bolero with short sleeves and outside a coat with long sleeves and the same kind of bolero??

princess carmen 02-21-2014 07:39 AM

Bolero design should have been left off the dress.

QueenJen 02-21-2014 07:57 AM

I like the whole look. Color, fit, hat, accessories - everything. I think it makes her look regal. In my opinion, she nailed it.

udyusa 02-21-2014 03:40 PM

This is one of her most flattering and elegant looks in a long time. I Love everything about it from head to toe! That is until she took the coat off... Armani, what happened?? The dress just doesn't cut it for me, but what do I know..

For a visit to "Medialaan" in Vilvoorde, today, February 25, Queen Mathilde wore a Natan dress Queen MŠxima owns as well:

** Full view ** Upper part ** Maxima 2013 - 1 ** Maxima 2013 - 2 **

Al_bina 02-25-2014 08:30 AM

I do not like the ensemble at all. There is something off. The dress looks like a poorly executed origami project.

udyusa 02-25-2014 11:25 AM

It looks cheaply made with an inexpensive fabric. And the different sleeves just look silly. A poor choice for both of them.

Frelinghighness 02-25-2014 10:07 PM

I think it is the ugly belt and nip in at the waist. If it was just a straight sheath with interstate at the sleeve then it might have worked:smile:

dazzling 02-26-2014 01:41 AM

The full view it looks quit entice but the upper view image shows the poor upper part stitching.

HereditaryPrincess 02-26-2014 05:14 PM

I like the outfit and don't think there's something off about it at all. Mathilde looks nice.

MARG 02-26-2014 08:33 PM

Oh dear, from the sublime to the ridiculous! That dress does absolutely nothing for Mathilde except make her look thick-waisted and sort of boxy. :ermm:

She always looks lovely in orange.

dazzling 02-28-2014 01:13 AM

What an elegant vibrant colored suit. She wears it well.

MARG 02-28-2014 01:31 AM

She looks fantastic. I really admire the royal wives who throw the shades of dreary monotony open and remind us the world is full of colour! And that goes double for doing it in winter which, for the most part, seems to bring forth annual variations on the drab and the dreary with lots of dull browns, olive, slate, grey, black . . . well you get the picture. And don't get me started on footwear . . .

I agree. I've always thought of orange as a loud colour, but Mathilde manages to pull it off. She looked very elegant and brightened up the group, who wear wearing mostly black. If she wore that outfit at a busy gathering, I guess you'd be able to spot her easily! ;)

udyusa 02-28-2014 02:57 PM

That's the idea..to stand out in a crowd! And that she does, elegantly and smartly. I love this outfit on HM both in color and style.

IloveCP 02-28-2014 11:00 PM

The orange suit is very lovely.

For a meeting today, March 11, Queen Mathilde has recycled the yellow blouse and the pencil skirt last worn on January 29 - I'm still not excited about the cut of the blouse:

** Full view ** Upper part ** Upper part 2 ** January 29, 2014 **

QueenJen 03-11-2014 08:51 PM

I'm not too fond of this outfit at all - it looks like something poorly done from the 1970-1980s. Although I think I should like the color, it do not. I just don't care for it.

Al_bina 03-11-2014 09:24 PM

The ensemble is awkward. An oversize blouse is aggravated with a bow. The colour is so so.

Barbara21 03-12-2014 05:28 AM

I donīt like it. The pencil skirt is Ok, but the yellow blouse looks weird. Something is wrong there, maybe the cut. :ermm: And of course, I do not like the bow.

udyusa 03-12-2014 01:25 PM

This is not a good look at all. The blouse is too big and the color is unflattering. I don't care for the skirt either.

HereditaryPrincess 03-12-2014 05:30 PM

Not a fan of this outfit. The colour combination is not to my taste, and there's something off about her skirt. I like her hairstyle, however.

Frelinghighness 03-12-2014 10:45 PM

I love the blouse but I don't think that's the right skirt for it.

Jacknch 03-13-2014 07:52 AM

Oh dear, I actually think the bow should have been bigger and slightly to the side nearer the neck - it's a little floppy for my tastes. It's stange because I don't think it would look so bad in lack or cream. For a modern version of the 1970's look, the blouse could be teamed with a different skirt, perhaps a tighter fitting skirt in black.
I'm currently watching the re-runs of the third series of Wonder Woman and some of the outfits back in 1979 are really rather lovely - tops and blouses mainly - because the flared trousers date them so much.

Queen Mathilde very elegant in black and white in London today, March 13, the bag and shoes are a nice addition:

** Full view 1 ** Full view 2 ** Upper part **

julliette 03-13-2014 12:37 PM

She looks great as usual.

Moonmaiden23 03-13-2014 01:01 PM

I used to find Mathilde's style very hit/miss but since she has become Queen of the Belgians she has been batting close to a thousand.

That black/white outfit to meet QEII is simply perfection. I especially love the matching gloves. Mathilde (or her designers) seem to be taking her style inspiration from 60's icon Jacqueline Kennedy.:whistling:

suztav 03-13-2014 01:17 PM

Mathilde looks fabulous! Yes, very 1960s Jackie-type of look.

leidi 03-13-2014 01:34 PM

It's amazing how an outfit so simple can look so regal, it's all Mathilde :flowers:

udyusa 03-13-2014 01:48 PM

One cannot hardly miss wearing black and white! It almost always looks smart and elegant and this is no exception. I love her simple little hat, as well.

HereditaryPrincess 03-13-2014 02:23 PM

Mathilde looks very elegant and stylish, black and white is a great colour combination for her (and anyone).

Lumutqueen 03-13-2014 03:18 PM

The outfit is suitable but boring IMO, colour would have been nice.

Al_bina 03-13-2014 03:23 PM

The ensemble is quite nice and classic. Is it by Natan?

Frelinghighness 03-13-2014 09:30 PM

Perfection, down to the pearl and diamond earrings. Love the shoes and bag and hat and structure of the top.

Queen Mathilde looked lovely indeed. I liked the origami-looking folds and a whimsical feather on the hat.

Duc_et_Pair 03-30-2014 11:53 AM

Queen Mathilde looks wonderful and elegant. The red gloves are a nice accent. However somewhere the cherry topping the royal cake is missing: a nice brooch. This afternoon Mrs Jinping outstaged Queen Mathilde with her diamond and pearl jewelry.

wyevale 03-30-2014 12:39 PM

Her Majesty's shoes are particularly beautiful... a very elegant appearance indeed.

HereditaryPrincess 03-30-2014 04:35 PM

Barbara21 04-23-2014 02:04 PM

I like the color, even in the darker shade of pink. She is pretty in pink.
However, the cut is bad and i donīt like her hairstyle too.

Belga Image - Editorial

That print makes her look a lot larger than she is!

Duc_et_Pair 04-29-2014 09:56 AM

I am underwhelmed by Queen Mathilde's appearance, I am afraid to admit. The print of the dress reminds me to granny dresses. I also miss a nice sparkling brooch to spice up things, she is the Queen of the Belgians.... come on, show it, Ma'am...

I agree what you say about a brooch - quite often I find a pattern or colour needs to be broken up a bit with some diamonds!
