Versailles: The Dream of a King
I came across this floor plan on a message board about Versailles, it is in French though, when you click on the numbers it tells you the room's name and gives a photo of the room.
If you don't speak French you could go to freetranslation.com to have it translated, Les appartements du rez de chaussée de Versailles It is the best I could find for now. |
I have came across these floorplans of Versailles. I always thought that Marie-Antoinette used the Queen's apartment but another floor plan has her rooms listed on the ground floor the other side of the palace.
the Queen's apartments, first floor: Les grands appartements du chateau de Versailles Marie-Antoinette's apartments ground floor (these aren't the Dauphine's rooms) http://img474.imageshack.us/img474/7...chauseefi9.jpg Does anyone know which rooms she actually used? I always thought the Queen's apartments but the second floor plans has me a little confused. |
I have no idea which one's Marie Atoinette used, though it seems odd she'd be allotted only three rooms.
This doesn't seem to be the entire image--is there more of it, Pinkcat? |
that is all the image, that I can find anyway. I was just curious to the Queen's apartments, because I always asumed that she used the Queen's apartments on the first floor, then the other floor plans shows a second set of apartments on the ground floor. I'm wondering now if one was the state apartments that she would use for official occasions and the other may be her private apartments.

Before I go to the trouble of doing it, perhaps I should ask and make sure:
I got a book when I went to Versailles in September (woohoo!) and it has very nice images of the entire floorplan. To the mods, is it acceptable to scan it in and share? |
Versailles: The Dream of a King
I don't know if people saw this new show/documentary called, "Versailles: The Dream of a King", it is on BBC. It is very interesting, it gives alot of insight into Louis XIV of France and how he came built the Palace of Versailles. Any insights, anybody?
