but as you read teh read post, you will see that JJKG is not complaining about what anyone feels or doesnt feel about letizia. just the constant mis-information and mis-interpretation of 'facts' that is used to justify themselves. when the funny thing is, our feelings in this matter doesn't recquire justification itself.
it would be a very boring forum if each of us just kept talking past everyone. to me anyway, its fun when there is a bit of an exchange and debate.

St. James Palace confirmed on Friday, that only king Juan Carlos and queen Sofia were invited to the wedding of prince Willian and Catherine Middleton. The official said that “You would need to check with the Spanish royal household as to who they have opted to attend,”
That night, however, a nervous courtier suggested that Charles had asked for Felipe and Letizia to be added to the guest list.

what is your very own interpretation...
the so called "mis-information" or "mis-interpretation" is highly subjective and goes both ways since every poster will and has the right to draw own conclusion from pictures or footage or articles which is fine and there is no need to tell somebody what - supposedly - is right or what is wrong

Good to know because I want to see Letizia in a new dress although that's very unlikely she would buy a new one.

Very strange that Charles has to intervene to get somebody on the guest list who wasnt invited in the first place - Williams wedding has been planned for months and certainly QEII and Charles oversaw the invites together with the protocol department. If Charles is so close to the SRF and has a good rapport to the CP couple in particular why didnt he make sure from the beginning that they got their invitation?
IMO its highly embarrassing for both courts that this came to light, looks like Charles felt obliged to extend the invitation after the CP couple played hosts for him and Camilla.

Whatever, I never thought that JC would attend this wedding despite being invited, he doesnt attend weddings of heirs to the throne, why this one? And Sofia would never attend on her own, therefore the CP couple attending alongside Sofia is a logical choice.

I believe that the news has bad intention, he starts by speaking about Gibraltar, so it seems that it is more a way of looking for a reason to criticize the Prince of Asturias. The King and the Queen did not go to the wedding of the prince Charles and Diana, and did not suffer any type of trauma.;) The Spanish press says for weeks that the Prince and the Princess of Asturias will attend, the doubt was if someone more would go.

Duke of Marmalade 04-09-2011 05:09 PM

In the media it has been said that the monarch couples of each monarchy were invited what is conform to protocol, with leaving it to each royal house who they would send. In Spain its well known that Sofia usually attends with F&L, and with other houses sending only one person or none at all (eg Japan), there is enough space to fit people in.

In general I believe that William and Kate are not close to any of the CP couples or monarch couples attending therefore they left it to protocol. William is never seen mingling with his almost-peers, its rather the Wessex' couple, or showing remote interest in royal gatherings. All he is probably really interested in is that his favourite BRF family members and his personal friends attend and he couldnt care less about who will show up from Spain, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Netherlands etc etc.

I dont believe that F&L will enjoy going, they go because the SRF were invited and it has become tradition that JC doesnt go, they dont go because they really want to be there, Letizia usually looks stiff & uncomfortable at social gatherings eg the Swedish wedding, Felipe is no public party animal either plus Sofia jr. is having her 4th birthday without her parents who in addition will have to leave to Vatican on the Sunday, a busy schedule.

Duke,Princess Letizia was perfectly comfortable during the visit of the Prince Charles and Camilla, and in the Swedish wedding she seemed to be a bit serious in some moments, but also we saw her in animated conversation with princesses Mathilde or Noor.

The Prince and the Princess have begun a very interesting international activity, and probably this wedding is not the more important or interesting thing that they are going to do.

First British official visit with them as hosts. Next week the official visit to Israel, a historical visit to Palestine and a visit to Jordan. After Sunday Easter the visit of the Emir of Qatar and his wife, the British wedding and the beatification of John Paul II.

I don`t care if they were invited right at the beginning or later, important is that they are going to attend. The recent visit of Charles and Camilla showed that the families have friendly relations, so I`m not surprised that Charles - or the BRF in general - wants the Princes at the wedding and that the Princes accepted.

Does any one know the protocol of entertaining a Sheikh?
Would it be offensive to host a dinner while wearing a shoulderless evening gown where a Sheikh and Sheikha were attending as special guests?

The Sheikhs and Sheikhas are covered from head to toe.
Is the host at liberty to wear whatever they would normally wear,
given that it is a dinner in their own country?
Or is it polite to dress in a way where the guests feel comfortable?
What would the visitors normally expect? Does any one know?

This question is influenced by the recent pictures of visit of a Sheikh and Sheikha to Spain. The Spanish royal family, I see, are dressed modestly
- except for Letizia - in a gorgeous shoulderless navy gown.
