Prince Emanuele out for dinner with friends in Rome,
Italy, March 24, 2010. The original caption focussed
on the unusual napkin ;)

Not very unusual here in Italy...just abhorred by those who follow etiquette.

georgiea 03-26-2010 03:51 PM

Hello MAfan. Do alot of Italian eat with the napkin like that? I try to eat my pasta with the napkin in my lap. I wonder if it is better to eat with the napkin like Prince Emanuele Filiberto? Maybe I would enjoy my pasta.;)

MAfan 03-26-2010 05:51 PM

Surely the napkin used like EF in the pictures shields very well your shirt/tee/sweater from squirts.
On the other side, using the napkin in this way is not very refined, often children use it so.
Surely the napkin in the lap is much more elegant.

georgiea 03-26-2010 07:08 PM

Thank you. A napkin in the lap is much more proper. Prince Emanuele Filiberto must have worried about what he was wearing to dinner.;)

Katrianna 03-26-2010 11:59 PM

To see the Prince dressed as he is and the placement of the napkin when the other diners at his table appear more dressed up with napkins in their lap, makes the Prince appear rather tacky.
There have been many pictures of the Prince, but Clotilde has been absent. Is she working on a film project?

She is, I've mentioned it on one of the last pages of the previous
thread, Clotilde has a role in the coming film of Philippe Claudel
named "Silence d'amour".

I love these two intimate photos of the Italian royal family. They are enjoying family time in a tea cup. LOVELY.;)

One more of the rare chances to see the girls:

I wonder how long that show will run..

Tosca 04-23-2010 10:07 AM

I do no know, but I do not care much about that, since I do not watch it. It's better to switch off the TV and read a book or listen to good music instead, since on Thursday nights it's so painful to choose between the "Annozero" talk show (the one co-hosted by Beatrice Borromeo a couple of years ago) and that of the Prince.

iceflower 04-26-2010 04:11 PM

Are TV ratings of no significance in Italy, Tosca? Well, at least
Emanuele himself is in his element and seems to enjoy it ;)

TV ratings are important in Italy, indeed. I couldn't tell you what kind of audience follow such TV shows, perhaps the middle aged housewives in Southern or North Eastern Italy. But I may be wrong.

iceflower 05-10-2010 04:10 PM

That could indeed be a target audience, though it can of course
not be generalized ;)

Prince Emanuele tried out a new look  in the latest show on May 7,
according to the caption it's been the last show, is that true?

We had the dancing prince and now the singing prince...
How many gifts he has?
