Perhaps because Rainier invented the event, and he put Stephanie in charge towards the end of his life. Maybe it was a gift from some circus artist...

even if not, I hope Stephanie will take her niece princess Alexandra, this girl lighten up the festive last time she attended (2008 no?)

Thursday&Friday, 14th and 15th : 8:00 pm competition shows

Saturday, 16th : 2:30 pm Open Air Circus show in the streets of Monaco
Saturday, 16th : 8:00 pm competition show

Sunday, 17th : 3:00 pm competition show

Monday, 18th : 7:00 pm ecumenical celebration at the Fontvieille Circus tent
Monday, 18th : 8:30 pm Soccer match at the Cap D’Ail Stadium
(Team “Barbagiuans” of Prince Albert versus the team of the circus artists)

Tuesday, 19th : 8:00 pm Awards Gala Evening

Wednesday, 20th - Sunday, 24th : winners’ shows (mostly twice a day)

Animal-free circus
 

I think animals should NOT be forced to perform. Most of these creatures are supposed to be WILD. Humans have domesticated certain smaller creatures over the course of thousands of years which is seems to be acceptable. But I think it's about time we left the rest of the critters alone. I really wish animals in circuses would be phased out completely, and I would love to see the Princely Family of Monaco refuse to allow animals into the Circus Festival. I'm fully aware that animals in circuses are a beloved "tradition" and have been an integral part of the circus industry. However, some things should be relegated to history, like race segregation (though I know that still exists in some ways - shameful!), or, at least attempt to be put in the past. We as human beings, I feel, can entertain ourselves perfectly well without pestering animals. I love to see photographs of the Princesses Stephanie and Caroline enjoying the Festival, especially with their kids, but it has always bugged me that animals are still featured in the shows. Certainly everyone should be given their right to voice their opinions, but what about the animals? They don't have voices to stay, "No". Just my opinion, thanks for reading.;)

As the French caption says, the pics were taken during
an interview about the festival Steph gave to French Nice
Matin. It will be published today in their Sunday issue.

These days in January are always great as to all those
pics related to the circus festival, since some days there's
only one catchy song I have: the theme tune of the festival :biggrin:

I hope her kids also attend the festival ! !
