If you are referring to the daughters of the King and Queen, rather than the King's sisters, there are seperate threads on them, Infanta Elena and Family and Infanta Cristina and Family respectively. Please refer to those threads for more news, pictures and information.

Have always wondered about the title "infanta." Is that like "Princess" in England or like "Lalla" in Morocco? Isn't Princesa the Spanish word for Princess, and if so, why is this not used? Thanks in advance... =D

I am not sure about your other questions. |
I think they're called Infanta/Infante because they're "Children of Spain"
the heir to the throne is a special case. |
that's right!
it's curious that they don't use the word 'princesa' and 'principe'... maybe it has to be with some kind of tradition or something like that. |
Fireweaver was right on the answer.
Infanta is used for the children of the king I think. |

When I looked up in a Spanish dictionary, it was stated there that a person is called
Infante when he is the son of a Spanish or Portugese king Infanta when she is the daughter of a Spanish or Portugese king. In the case of King Juan Carlos' sisters, they are called still Infantas because their father would have been a king and generally, Infante or Infanta refers to a child. Even though their father was not able to succeed as king but he was still a spanish royal. |

Thank you Marezdote and Sylvia!:D
These will help a lot!;) |
It should be really interesting to actualise this thread about the king's sisters. I mean explaining about their sons weddings, specially those referring to Pilar, and their affairs, as well as their professional lives... just to give a different perspective of the family of the king of spain and how normal they are. I would do that if I had any photos but I don't. Nevertheless, I'll try to give some info

Thanks, Igilmo! Your contribution will be very welcome!
In the meanwhile, we have another thread dedicated to the children of Infantas Pilar and Margarita and their respective families. Take a look at: http://www.theroyalforums.com/forums...364#post236364 |
I wonder why their biographies are not available on the King's Houshould webpage even though they belong to the Spanish Royal Family.
