The story from Diez Minutos was already been denied by the owner of the mag. He said they had bad sources
Well, next time he needs to pay atention to the press conference in the engagement day :P |
This is from an English newspaper - The Mirror
(Don't know how much of it is true) SPAIN REIGN SUCH A PAIN Nov 15 2003 Fiancee row plagues Prince Felipe BE concerned, if you will, for another royal family heading for trouble. I am talking about the Spanish lot and, in particular, their Crown Prince Felipe (the equivalent of Prince Charles) who I remember cavorting with the Waleses when they were on bucket and spade holidays in the 80s as guests of King Juan Carlos in Majorca. His looming "problem" is an exceptionally pretty girl, Letizia Ortiz, to whom Felipe has just become officially engaged. The Spaniards, who revere their royals, are worried on several counts, many of which are snobbish. Letizia has been married before, she dresses too flamboyantly, she doesn't know how to behave properly and, even worse, is guilty of being a journo (only estate agents and lawyers are held in less esteem) let alone of humble birth. You think that none of this matters? You're wrong. As we have learned, so painfully, outsiders marry not only the person of their choice but the "subjects" too. We all want our say. Many years ago, when the Prince of Wales was young and still reasonably fancy-free, I talked to him about whom he might wed. After an interesting discussion Charles eventually said that, for him, it seemed a good idea to marry, if possible, a princess because "they know how everything works." He was right. Princesses know protocol, know not to kick over the traces when they're unhappy, know how to be dutiful and supportive even if they're spending half their life suffering. Commoners (even Lady Diana was one) are less likely to stay in line. So, back to the luscious Letizia. Following the engagement - approved by both the King and Queen - and the showing off of the diamond ring, the bitching and unpleasantness kicked in. The bed in which Letizia spent the first night of her honeymoon with her first husband was pulled out for the cameras; her apparently blameless past was analysed unmercifully while there were jibes that she was an opportunist. Those who bravely married into our royal family, and those of us who chronicled the results of these unions, know all about the horrors of such close scrutiny. Even scratching the surface produces venom. Already old pals of Letizia have talked of her (unpleasant) ambitiousness, pushiness and the worry she's a control freak. She was attacked by the baying media for getting matters "wrong" on her engagement day. For wearing a suit, worse, a white suit instead of a jacket and skirt; for standing on Felipe's right-hand side instead of the left and even for touching her hair during the photo opportunity. Commented one: "Have we ever seen the Queen touch her hair?" Indeed. But then Queen Sofia is royal through and through. Her father was King Paul of Greece while her brother is King Constantine (Tino) of this same country but now, of course, in exile. What worries me, let alone the Spanish royal family as a whole, is that this relationship is being scuppered before Letizia and Felipe even take their vows. So, is the upside of marrying a prince greater than the downside? It won't take this pretty gel long to discover. Good luck to her, she's going to need it. |
Wow, that's some article! :o

Is Letizia still on TV or does she already quit her job and concentrate for her future life?
|
I heard she left TV a lot faster than seh planned, and I imagine she is now getting a compressed quicky course on
- history of the monarchy in Spain - comportment - the difference between riding in the back seat, and back seat driving ;) - how to hold the fork in the left hand while chatting to the person on the right :innocent: |
The spanish soccer team will play the play-off to the European Championship against Norway in Oslo. Just look to the flag that some supporters took to Norway :innocent:
http://elmundodeporte.elmundo.es/elm...ublico-efe.jpg I felt sorry for Eva, but i must say that i laugh alot when i saw the picture. They realy had imagination  And courage to do it in Norway :P |
Yeah ... too bad about Eva. I guess she doesn't want me :(
and the other thing, Oslo got snow today. The Spanish soccer team is not looking forward to snow and cold. When I read that it occurred to me that in this modern age soccer matches in Europe are still played out of doors, while in North America football is played under a roof. |

Who thinks this is the "real" thing. What I mean to say is, what if this isn't just headlines? It seems awfully fast to suddenly show up with a girl and be getting married to her. Look how long he has been with Eva. He wanted to marry her, too. That would have made more sense considering he had been with her for a long while. Letizia just kinda showed up...that is, unless, she had always been around and was the "other" woman. I think in his position this is a terrible manoeuvre. Rebounding or not, I definitely think there should be more time for a courtship. If he dickered so long with the other women he supposidly loved, why is he all of a sudden ready to race down the altar with the stamina of a marathon champion?
|
I agree completely! There's something weird about this...

As an add-on to Dennism's and Alexandria's comments, if we (only english speaking brethern at this site) could read Spanish, we'd find that most of our queries have been answered on the Spanish news sources/pages.

"she looks "drop-dead" gorgeous to me. Obviously she doesn't want her man to run to other women for consoling like her future dad-in-law has been known to do. "
I hope this doesn't mean what I think it does. |
It is kind of funny what ppl think of letizia on diff. MBs. Alot of ppl like her here, on cherubscafe alot of ppl dont like because of A's predictions, they even have a thread of how to stop the wedding and on royalblue it in the middle.
