Mette-Marit opening Blåfjella-Skjækerfjell national park and Lierne national park

On June 26th Mette-Marit will be in Lierne in Nord Trøndelag to open two new National Parks, Minister of environment will also be there, the new National Parks are called Blåfjella-Skjækerfjell national park and Lierne national park
http://www.adressa.no/nyheter/nordtr...icle635777.ece#

The national parks are not far from Trondheim where the 100th anniversary of the coronation will be celebrated until the 24th so guess she will go straight from Trondheim

Haakon and Mette-Marit during the celebration of the Coronation centennary, pics and information in this thread

It was Raining at the mountain early today but when Mette-Marit arrived at 12 the sun was shining, she was met by Minister of Environment Helen Bjørnøy and Mayor of Lierne Arnodd Lillemark , 20 reporters and some 500 people had come to the opening ceremony for the two new national parks. She visited representatives for the 5 municipalities where the national parks are situated, talked to people from the municipalities, and local industry and commerce and tasted local food. Later she will have a lunch, a local dish called “mjukstut” which consists of fish AND meat
http://www.t-a.no/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060626/NYHETER/106260083

Some of the most valuable in the new parks is that they have breeding arctic fox, a very threatened species, the locals hope the new parks will increase tourism and give economic benefits

As always not everyone is happy, the Sámi council thinks the parks are to small and that the management plans give inadequate protection for the wild reindeer, they say their opinion and experience has not been heard and many of the Sámi people are boycotting the opening today

More from the National Park opening from www.t-a.no and www.adressa.no
To her recent activites she has been accomapnied by the chief of the Crown Prince Couples Court, Gry Mølleskog, the woman with the curly blond hair in the last pic. The bishop pf Nidaros was also there, the thin man with the glasses and purpel shirt in this pic

Thanks for the pics. It looks like there were a bunch of people there. It's kind of neat to see a royal doing an engagement in khakis, sneakers, and a rain type jacket.

Smilla 06-27-2006 12:17 PM

MM and Hakoon seem to be at their best in Norway when visiting small communities. This looks really nice and informal, I can imagine that this suits them.

Well if she went to visit a national park on the mountain in high heels like Letizia did some months ago, we would laugh her out of the country:p That might work in Spain but Sonja always wears such clothes (ofcourse it depends on the weather, she was there for 3,5 hours) with trainers or mountain boots. This was a typical Sonja engagement, but I think its good for her to do such things as well, two new national parks are a big deal, even if they are somewhat controversial.

I always have the impression that she feels much more comfortable in "everyday" clothing instead of the formal dresses. What do you think?

Well I always feel more comftarble in flats than in stilettos:p In the beginning she hardly knew how to walk in heels and seemed to avoid it as often as possible.

What I think she does absolutly worst is ultra formal day wear when she needs to wear a hat, like day-weddings, nobel and other superformal events with the Queen sending her watchful eyes:p . She used to look absolutly stiff, hardly a smile and slouching as well and sort of hiding under the hat, but I did think she wore a couple of the hats this last week quite well, and she obiously feels more comterble in heels now they are VERY tall recently and she can walk resenable well in them judging from TV. Actually I think it is the situation more than the outfit that gives her confidence, this was a relaxed informal event, just as the last week was just about celebrations, those who dont like the monarchy dont show up, excpet part of the socialist goverment who has to be there, but they are polite enough;)

BTW, Haakon opened the International Summerschool at the university of Oslo last night, zero covereage on TV or in the papers as I have seen, maybe he should start wearing a hat and stilettos to get some attention;)

He could borrow some high heeled boots from his brother-in-law. ;)

One of Mette-Marit's hats would increase his chances of getting some coverage.

I've got the perfect attention grabbing attire for Haakon....
Mette-Marit's hat from Charles and Camilla's wedding and her yellow boots.:D

And a suit to recycle her shocking pink dress from Thailand (it wasn't that hot anyway). :)

Those clothes make Mette-Marit look young. Like she barely turned 12 or whatever. But I loves it.

Daneborn 07-05-2006 07:28 PM

I really like Mette-Marit and I think it's apparant from the pictures above that she's enjoying life :)

I don't know if its' the lighting, but I honestly think Mette-Marit should cut down on the hydro peroxide.

It's just not fit for a future queen to crave for a hair colour that resembles the average Hollywood wannabe bimbo :(

Someone should remind her that she's royal. She doesn't have to compete with anyone else about her position.

If royals can't stand up for themselves and their natural looks, how can we see them as role models ??

Larzen, thanks for the additional pictures of MM. She really looks glowing on these pictures

She is a great princess with so many potential, and i surely hope she'll do more royal duties after the summer holiday.

I think her blonde hair colour is okay, and she looks good in it, including with the hair style. But, every now and then, we often see her hair just like that, and i think it's time to style them differently every now and then.

dont think she is dying her hair to compete with any one , she dye's it because she wants too!! its got nothing to do with her standing up for herself if she goes natural or not !!!!!!!!

biboquinhas 07-06-2006 11:16 AM

well I must say I don't like at all the way she dress, I think comparing with other Princess she should be more careful in the way she dresses, she dress very badly, she should spruce oneself up!!!!She doesnt dress smartly at all!!!

Zonk 07-06-2006 12:48 PM

Maybe I am being a bit naive...but what makes you think she is dyeing her hair. I need to check out pics of when she was pregnant with both children...her hair looked the same..and I know its recommended that you NOT dye your hair while expecting.

I would agree that sometimes MM's style is dress if off..but I hardly think she resembles a Hollywood bimboo.

HRHAmy 07-07-2006 02:10 AM

I don't think there is anything wrong with Mette-Marit's hair, I like the color very much. She has had the same hair color the whole time she's been a princess so I don't see how it would make a big difference what her hair looks like now. I think if MM loaded her hair up with hair spray and teased it to no end then yes, she would look like a hollywood bimbo like Anna Nicole Smith or Britney Spears but she hasn't done anything like that, she's always been very classy with her hair.
