Royals Eating & Drinking

Often you see royals at a banquet/ready to have dinner, but does anyone have pics of them actually eating or drinking something?

*SofiaM* 05-21-2007 10:42 AM

I heard on TV, regarding Queen Elizabeth, that after camera crews have filmed/photographed the Royals sitting down at a gala dinner they can't do anymore. It said that she hated people to see her eat (which is understandable). So I don't know if it is the same for all other royals too.

CP Mary

Here are some pics of Crown Princess Mary at cafe -- I had never seen these before:

I think they might be from Corbis. Looks like she's enjoying pastry and coffee. I have seen her at formal banquets before, with a luxurious plate of food before her, but have never seen her eating any.

These are truly funny! I think the more hilarious of all is the one with Queen Sonja eating her hot dog! You must open your motuh really big to eat hot dogs!

When I saw the caption "Sofia drinking from bottle" I thought you meant Infanta Sofia!

Kelly 05-22-2007 09:14 AM

Queen Sonja attempting to eat a hot dog is hilarious! It is like she has never tried one before!!

I actually remember seeing a feature on prince Nicholas of Greece on 60 minutes where it was said he prepared lunch for the crew but didn't allow them to shoot him putting food in his mouth. Guess it is an etiquette thing of sorts.

I have seen dozens of pictures of GD Henri of Luxembourg drinking beer, drawing beer from the tap, toasting with beer... the guy must really enjoy the stuff...

Yes, it was special. They were talking about Royal Weddings, it was right before Fredrik & Mary's wedding. They also spoke about Felipe & Letizia's up-coming wedding. He said that it was Royal ettiquete to not be filmed eating or drinking or shooting (like out hunting deer or something). I only remember because that's when I found out that Frederik and Felipe were getting married! Let's just say I'd been out of touch with the Royals...LOL!

I read that Queen Sofia only eats vegetables, it´s true??

Well...Then , I admire her! I'm also a "pescatarian". Not for hate meat. It's only that I find fish more tasteful than meat. And I even think that people in Netherlands just LOVES fish.

Mary looks a bit surprised at the cameras. It's funny seeing her eat, because we probably wouldn't see her eating in public today.

Madame Royale 05-31-2007 09:45 PM

Of course you would, and 'we' have.

During the Australian Tour of 2005 and again during their more recent visit in late 2006. Photo's taken at cafes and the like

Oh, sorry! I meant like, official photos! I guess I didn't specify that! I'm really embarrassed now! But sure, if she's out and about she has to eat.

She also will probably be more elegant, not stuffing her mouth like that.

Royal's favourite dish ?

These days I feel like cooking and I was just wondering what are Royal's favourite dishes

Mine is couscous, I should live in Maghreb !

FarahJoy 02-29-2008 04:44 AM

What I have found on the web :

According to the site Wayodd, the favorite dish of Britain's late Queen Mother was Eggs Drumbiko - a dish made from chopped eggs, seafood, tomatoes and mayonnaise in a sherry-flavored jelly - when she dined at London's Goring Hotel restaurant.

Others:

King Juan Carlos of Spain appreciates caldereta de langosta (lobster stew) and a leek and prawn pie served with a creamy sauce made from nécoras (small seawater crabs).

King Baldwin of Belgium favorite dish was Brussels sprouts.

Lady Diana's favorite dishes were Bread and Butter pudding and stuffed egg plants, fruits, vegetables, chicken and chocolate.

Well... cheap food for most of them ! :chef:

There's a small cafe in downtown Amman that serves olives, hoummous etc. and King Hussein was said to be a big fan of the simply food there.

Queen Beatrix is very fond of Chocolate cake. Every year when she has a birthday she has it made by a bakery in Amsterdam.

Not sure from the article if this is the wine cellar for the Palace or just the Government's stock which is used at State banquets.

Royals going out (restaurants, bars, clubs, cinemas)

i thought it would be interesting to know where royals like to go out for dinner or lunch, or where they go for a drink or to have fun.

felipe and letizia are usually spotted out eating or going to the cinema. some of the restaurants they chose in the past are:

diverxo restaurant
chen restaurant (in aravaca)
Ten con Ten
El rey de los tallarines
Gumbo, in malasana
Lamucca
La esquina del Real
Pizzería Emma y Julia
Il Pastaio
La Catapa
La Cantina de Matadero
La Negra Tomasa
La Terraza del Casino
Asiana
Viva la vida!
Café Taberna Tirso de Molina
La Bicicleta
Musashi
Medina Mayrit
El Asador Donostiarra
Casa Lucio
El Landó

they had drinks previously at:

Josealfredo
Del Diego
La Riviera
Costello

they also go to the cinema frequently, usually in cinema renoir or cinema Manoteras.

william and kate are sometimes seen out in restaurants and pubs in the UK, they were seen at The Kings Head Hotel in Great Bircham, at Dans Le Noir and also hosted a Christmas party and lunch at the Bumpkin restaurant in London's Notting Hill.
