Royalty Conferences
Royalty Conferences
I am thinking of attending the Royalty Digest Conference in April of 2007 in GB (about an hour outside of London). I am traveling from Los Angeles and I would like some feedback from those who have attended in prior years. Comments on any other conferences are welcome as are private replies. |
Hi Quin,
This is the first time I have ever heard of a royalty conference. Could you please tell us more about it? |
Indeed. I had no idea such things existed. Tell us more!
|
Yes there are royalty conferences.
Over the years I have attended several conferences organized by Arturo E. Beeche, publisher of the European Royal History Journal (“ERHJ”). This annual conference has historically been held in San Francisco, California but in the past two years it has been held in Emeryville, California, which is just across the bay from SF. Visit AB’s link at www.eurohistory.com to subscribe to his periodical the ERHJ. I highly recommend it. The conference is only advertised in his magazine. Meet royals and other royal followers. Royalty Digest is a periodical that was formerly published in the UK by Piccadilly Rare Books and now in Sweden by Ted Rosvall of Rosval Royal Books. PRB still however hosts a conference, which this year is scheduled for April 2007 an hour outside of London. Visit PRB's site at www.royaltydigest.com for details. I recommend to all subscribing to Royalty Digest and to do so visit RRB’s site at http://web.telia.com/~u51500203/index1.htm. |
Very interesting, Quin, I'll definitely look into it.
Could you please tell us what these past conferences you've attended were like? Were the attendees mainly professional historians, writers and the like. Or were they mainly non-professionals? |
These events attract all walks of life from historians/educators/students of royal scholarship to pop royal followers.
The range in vocations is from medical doctors and lawyers to retirees and truly everything else in between. |

GT & BF:
The journals I listed at post # 4 have been central to my study of royalty. From these sources I have bought scores of books, attended conferences, dinned with royals and made a few friends along the way. GT: If I could find at least 3 dedicated people in the greater Los Angeles area to participate, I would like to start a book reading club. I also have some great royalty documentaries and royalty docudramas from the 30’s we could watch. Perhaps get together 3 or 4 times a year to discuss our jointly selected readings over tea, lunch, dinner? Any thoughts? |
King Michael? Sure about that?
|
Dear Quin,
If I am understanding Arturo correctly (here), then yes. Or maybe he is just referring to Michael being in SF and Margarita & Radu going to the conference? Perhaps that is it. |
I never heard nothing about ths conferences. I didn't nobody of the writers and/or speeches except the French one.
Helen Carrere d'Encausse is not truly an Historian writter but more precisely a Sciences Politic and Social analyst. She a very great famous writer, mores she is member of " Académie Française" the most prestigious academia in France. As she come from Russia by birth, she knows very well the history of this country that she has studied as politician analyst doing for example brilant speculations about the item of es- USSR and CEI. Was Helen Carrere d'Hencause doing a conference in this area ? Is this organisation of conferences the reflect of some politic ideas or some lobbies? Are some the books listed in the catalog only historic ones or a little bit romantic ? And to end could the text of this conferencies buy in the shops ? |
B:
Think the latter is part right. Not sure whether KM was in S. Francisco. He may have because I purchased a signed copy of his book from Arturo. Were you at this year's conference? Perhaps we will run into one another at next year's 10th annual conference. Q. |
Quin,
No, I wasn't at this year's conference. In fact, I haven't attended one at all. However, it seems like it would be very informative and enjoyable. I think I will try to go next year. |
