Continuing on what we were talking about in the last thread. I think it is a promise ring. She wasn't wearing any other rings at all on any other fingers. And she just seems like the kind of person who would wear one. Plus the wedding ring finger is mainly reserved for promise rings and wedding rings.

HRH Mims 10-25-2006 01:35 PM

really?
I finally know what is it promise ring, but I wear my ring on my wedding ring finger. and it's not promise ring ;)
We will have to wait for another photos and we will see

More likely it isn't; promise rings are an American thing (see the Silver Ring Thing), and, as far as I know, not used anywhere in Europe :flowers: The only capacity I have ever seen them worn here has been as a sign that the person is in a serious, committed relationship - an exchange student in my class had one because he had a girlfriend waiting in Germany; the couple had got exactly the same ring for each other.

Alexandra is so young and has solo engagements! Until this time she was almost always with one of her parents.

How old were/are usualy royal princesses when they started their solo engagements? 15, 18 years old?

Kelly 10-27-2006 06:08 PM

I have never seen her in a solo engagement. Is this her first one? She did it well I might add.

In video you can see it's her second ;) I think her first solo engagment was when that project started. :flowers:

Lakshmi 10-28-2006 02:26 AM

I wonder if we would ever see Tessy and Gabriel in official family pictures. Louis is not in the line to the throne any more, wonder if he would have any official engagements.

Hereditary Mapmaker 10-28-2006 10:07 AM

Personally I don't think that Alexandra is too young to be having solo engagements. Lots of people who are similar in age around the world attend school, take part in maintaining the family home, and sometimes have jobs outside the home. In addition, Alexandra, at least in pictures, appears very calm, responsible, and professional. And since they finally allowed her to stop dressing like a little girl she appears more mature.

On that note, IMO she really has become a beautiful young woman, the best combination of her parents. Beatrice and Eugenie, while both attractive, usually wear things that are ill-fitting (i.e. too tight), and most of the time have a mismatched appearance. At least they are finally both wearing heels.

At any rate, congrats to Alexandra for stepping into her adult life as the number two woman in Luxembourg.

First engagement in 2003.

She is really grown up and professional for a 15 year old girl.

That's very sad news  . Will the funeral be private or public?

Kelly 03-01-2007 07:50 PM

What sad news. Did she live in luxembourg?

No Princess Marie-Adélaïde was living with her husband Count Carl Josef Henckel von Donnersmarck (*1928) and her four children Andreas (*1959), Felix (*1960), Heinrich (*1961) and Marie Charlotte (*1965), (all have the Count or Countess title)at Castle Wolfsberg in Carinthia (Austria), the domain of the family Henckel von Donnersmarck.

She was living at Castle Berg (Luxembourg), Pianore (Italy) and in Hohenburg (Germany) during her youth. She had studied in Roehampton (Great Britain) and Brussels then she past her exams in the Collège Jésus Marie de Sillery in Montreal (Canada).

I guess the funeral will be in Austria because she has died in an hospital in Carinthia.

antonieta 03-02-2007 01:43 PM

My condolences to the family.

For Wolfsberg Castle, see link.

my sympathies go out to her family and loved ones.

lisamaria 03-12-2007 01:43 PM

Here is a picture of the GD Jean and his sisters. Princess Marie-Adélaïde, Countess Henckel von Donnersmarck, is the second from left. I rather like this picture; they all look so modest.

Unfortunately, who posted the pic to me, didn't post the original source.

lilytornado 03-12-2007 03:29 PM

I really like the picture, too. She looked really nice, they all do, like nice modest people, you are right, lisamaria.

Kelly 03-13-2007 11:21 AM

Did the GD attend with the family to the funeral?

antonieta 03-13-2007 03:11 PM

Anwsering to your question Kelly, yes, DG did attend to the funeral with the Grand Duchess and his father.

The Grand Duchess looks like she has had a full-body transplant. No-one loses weight that quick.

Kelly 10-17-2007 01:22 PM

I think she just is taking care of her body. Since we don't see her often she may have lost the weight sometime between her vacations.

queenofcelts 10-17-2007 03:32 PM

Maria-Teresia looks great!

Grand Duchess looks extremelly beautiful and elegant in these pictures.
I think she did some plastic surgery (a light one) that enhanced her beauty:smile:

kyansaunt20 04-28-2008 05:28 PM

Does Luxembourg have a minimum voting age of 18? If so, then this would be the Princess' first opportunity to vote. This may have been an exciting thing for her to participate in.

Lakshmi 06-08-2009 12:21 AM

it is so nice to see Louis and Tessy. They're quite private people.
 Where they are living presently? Does Louis continue his education?

Lalla Meriem 06-08-2009 08:08 AM

New suit, new tie, new watch and new hair cut.....and he still looks stunning. I wonder if he's changed his job or something now since it seems like a big change.

Louis and Tessy both look great! Are they living in Luxembourg now? I thought that they were in Switzerland.

Louis and Tessy look very grown-up in the voting photo! I always like seeing this couple. Did the Grand Duke and Duchess vote in this election? Are they eligible to vote? I don't recall seeing photos of them at the polls.

rociocristina 06-12-2009 09:34 PM

I am not sure, but in Belgium the heads of state can not vote (King Albert),only can vote the other family members, The same can happen in Luxembourg.

Shaiya 06-12-2009 11:33 PM

I think that Louis and Tessy both have seemed to fill out into their adult lives very well. They look a lot more mature than they did during their wedding, Noah's batism, etc... I feel like they're really in this for the long haul and have fit into their roles at last. Plus I love what Tessy's done with her hair!

They are usually in France for August.

I do agree Henri is a rather attractive man. Maria Teresa is a lucky women.

I really like seeing the Grand Duke and Duchess with their grandchildren. They really seem to be very proud grand parents.
