    Shame how things turned out. Russia was one of the best monarchies in terms of grandeur. It was a shame to lose it. Perhaps if there was some reform we would be talking about a Tsar Nicholas III today?

    Thanks for that. Every time I try to talk to the teacher they fob me off and say ' do you want to teach the class?'

    I agree about Russia in the 1900s, but there was a Tsar in the mid-to-late 1800s who planned to intoroduce a parliament on the day he was blown up by extremists. I think he freed the serfs and was called Alexander the III.

    Although I am goign to have to agree to disagree with you on an Australian republic.

    That's interesting. In Yr 10 history at my school we only get taught one side of history. For example, we have recently finished a unit on communism and had it rammed down our throats about how evil the monarchy and bourgeoisie were in the 1900's in Russia, which was annoying when we are also taught to learn from history yet don't know the full story....
