Posts on this thread need to immediately change.

Until now, this thread has been a list of photos and links to photos that are posted in several other places on this board. Since the Royal Forums is not a photo hosting site but a discussion board, it is very important that this topic include discussion and not just photo links.

From now on, discussion about this topic will be required to keep this thread open.
Photos here are often posted several other places on this board- please consider linking to those places so all members can have some context about when that particular fashion was worn (where, when, why and who!). Understandably, photos are often needed to support discussion but we trust that all members here are very familiar with the more appropriate mix of photos, dicussion and news that is balanced almost everywhere else across the forum.

If this thread does not immediately change from a list of repeated photos to an active discussion, we will have to close it because it is of little value to the forum and is simply using up bandwidth.

So let's all start talking to each other!!
Why do you like royals in pink?
Are there occasions when this wearing this colour was symbolic?
Maybe when it seemed completely out of place?
Who wears this colour the most strikingly?
Are there eras in time when this colour was more popular?
What style of clothing to you think looks best in this colour?
Are there colours that are OK for younger princesses, but not for more mature Queens?

Let the discussion begin!

I dont mind pink but i do mind the bubble gum pink which should be avoided by royals. I find it to be a childs color, also when printed in papers/magazines the color looks even brighter. It also does not suit many people. I find the pink shade MM wears, is a darkish shade of pink which sometimes washes her out. Id like to see royals in a whitish pink or a dark pink shade, nothing to a shade a child would wear

I agree with you, Dazzling. I think that bubble gum pink (jmj21983 posted this link to Alexandra as an example) is difficult to wear in a professional situation. Somehow, it seems very childish.

In comparison, a pale pink (example from jmj21983 worn my Mary) looks soft, but very professional. It's interesting- Mary does not wear pale pink often and in the past, it has often been when she is pregnant.

Exactly azile, perfect examples, exactly those are the pink shades i was talking about. the strong, shinning colors are not professional at all. softer colors are more of a lady-like imo

I love pink color. And I think it makes everyone younger...

But in combination with other materials it makes real catastrophe:
queen Sonja's radioaktive pink

what a pity! it had interesting sleeves

Why don't you love it?
This dress is so Sonja-like. I think she's one of the women who look good in bright colours.
She seems to be rather brave (or maybe colourblind ) to wear such radioactive-shining colours...
The same goes for Märtha-Louise. She has a very similar dress.. also in such a bright colour
Märtha's pink dress.

Another good point... personality really does make a difference to clothing, doesn't it! Maybe Sonja's "bravery" for fashion was the start for Maertha Louise's unique fashion tastes!

I also agree- medium tone pinks seem to work better for evening wear than day wear. Maertha's dress is quite lovely, eventhough it is the same shade as Alexandra's suit. I think the purple shawl also tones down the impact of the pink- it makes it work much better and the contrast is really striking.

I must say that pinsk is not my favourite colour. It depend of course of that is it light, dark, reflective too. Sometimes I like to watch other women in pink.

Btw. Do we have here photo of Victoria or Madeleine in pink? or any men in pink?

Mette-Marit seemed to go for a lot of pink during her & Haakon's recent visit to India.
I think this pale pink outfit was gorgeous http://new2.isifa.com/tools/get_prev...p?idp=12935828
This outfit, I didn't like as much, although it seemed like she was trying to go for an Indian inspired look

I think her all time best pink outfit was the gorgeous dress in London last October.

Well, for men in pink, my guess would be Felipe has worn a pink tie (you know how he likes to match Letizia) (seriously, the man must have a million ties, one in every possible color and pattern), so I went looking. And I was right! Felipe has worn several pink ties! (or a couple of pink ties several times )

http://www.theroyalforums.com/forums...6&d=1114103530
maybe his coral-colored tie was in the wash- but this one is cute!

However, Felipe is not the only royal man who is man enough to match his wife and wear pink.
