Queen Sofía wore the same Oscar de la Renta gown at the Queen Sofía Institute Awards in New York the designer's wife used before, check that thread because I'm sure I'm not the only one who noticed that

Hi, I have a question, do you think this dress is the same one that Letizia used for the danish wedding? (msg. 90)

It's not the same dress, but a flagrant (and quite noticed by the time) imitation of Caprile's magnificient creation...

Why would Laurentien choose to copy a dress that was so much admired?! Letizia owned that dress, so to speak. It's not even a particularly nice imitation.....

This red Letizia's dress was WONDERFUL and UNIQUE, Letizia was memorable these two days, and this kind of dress fits only to her. Everyone saw this dress and nobody can forget her :) . So it's stupid from Laurentien who saw her wearing it, to try to imitate her, she is not Letizia !!!

I do not think that Laurentien's dress comes from Caprile, who I'm sure created these 3 gawns (red, red&flowers, gray) ESPECIALLY and ONLY for Letizia, so another designer imitate it for her, its stupid...

The same statement with the purple-blue gown worn by Mary :) . Mary is a lovely, thin young woman, 33 years old. She first wore this dress and everybody saw it and admire her! Why Sara, who is 13 years older than Mary and much considerable kilos more, does need to have THE SAME dress??? In this world they exist thousand of wonderful dresses, why she needs to wear the same than a royal fashion icon? She is being compared and the comparison its a catastrophy for her.

The difference is that Letizias magnificent gowns were tailored and designed for her, real couture gowns. Mary wore a ready to wear dress straight of the catwalk in Paris, many other has also worn this dress, Naomi Campel, for instance, when you wear a ready to wear dress you better expect others to wear it as well, its not like the designer will make only one of a ready to wear dress.

Besides the event Letizia wore it to was significantly much more high profile than the events Mary wore hers to, maybe Sarah did not see Mary wear it. Laurentien deffenently saw Letizia wear it, she even placed her brooch much in the same way as Letizia

Laurentiens dress looked like a department store dress compared to Letizias both in cut and quality, but it still did suit her I thought and she looked elegant, and the necklace is to die for

The same happend with Ready to Wear Carolina Herrera gown Mary wore in Japan (polfoto)
http://www.theroyalforums.com/forums...hmentid=127840
It was worn by the wife of one King Juan Carlos Nephews Barbara Cano (scanned by Meg)
http://www.theroyalforums.com/forums...5&d=1119082071
and by Ana Garcia Sineriz (getty)

So do you want to have an unique dress dont pick one of the runway

I agree Laurentien still looked good in that dreass, but the problem is that she chose the exact same colour and she placed the brooch in the exact same way as Letizia did... and all this just a few months after Letizia's memorable appearance in an event where Laurentien was too... All together, it was just too much...

very true!
Its quite different to copy a dress that was originally custom-made for someone else as opposed to wearing one from a ready-to-wear collection that is bound to end up in more than one woman's closet.
The perfect example of this was the pink Prada dress worn by Queen Rania, Princess Mary and several celebrities.
http://www.theroyalforums.com/forums/196638-post45.html

Not to mention the examples of the black Prada dress you posted in post 179. That label seems to be a particular favourite with many celebs and royals.
In the case of Letizia's red Caprile gown, Im guessing Laurentian saw it and fell in love with it, which is no wonder because it is a gorgeous dress. I think it was quite brave of her and shows she wasn't too proud to wear something she really liked, even if it was an imitation. Its not something many women would do. The only problem ofcourse is the quality of the copy and the fact that the dress may not always look equally good on two different women.

You are right...I think they are very similar and would either get on famously or have a strong personality clash. I would describe their style as no-nonsense, classic/chic
