And while I dont remember how much these dresses were talked about by the press - they were certainly photographed and published a lot:

One Two Three Four Five Six Seven Eight
(Sorry I have not gone to the effort to describe each dress before linking it - I figured that we would all think of them differently anyway, and I do not know which events they were worn to...)

While its not an outfit, I think the thing most commonly talked about for Mette Marit is her tendency to wear a lot of black.

Yes - number four is the first dress I remember seeing her wearing, it was only later that I started looking at the earlier ones.

The only dress worn by a Royal in recent years that has been widely discussed would be Letizia's red dress in Denmark.

No other Royal comes close.

Never forget about the "I killed a Canarian bird" /"Protect your eyes" /"Yellow nightmare" dress .
No other dress has so many nicknames then this yellow nightmare.

It must be the most discussed Royal dress.. maybe not by the press. But definitely at Royal boards.

All we can do is talk. Both of those gowns were worthy of Letizia's style. Both were knockouts. Now she is more often seen wearing "proper" princessy dresses. Dull, unimaginative, not worthy of mention.

That one was definitely talked about by the press. According to VG (also photograph of the dress) it was voted the most tasteless dress at the wedding, by El Mundo. I think it was such a shock, because she looked stunning at the wedding of Mary and Frederik the week before.

Similarly, Mette-Marit's arrival outfit in Madrid (jeans) was also discussed a lot, both in the press and here.

And then there was the feather-duster Mette-Marit wore to her daughter's christening, which got a lot of criticism at the time, but ended up being somewhat common.
