I thought Letizia's stunning red gown at Frederik and Mary's wedding was absolutely devine. Unfortunately, since her marriage we have seen nothing as classically 'signature'. In fact, she seems to have become very understated.:(
Has anyone seen her in anything nearly as dynamic? Please share if you have.

Was she in her pregnancy in this picture?, if yes then this Gala gown deserves to be the best maternity gala gown wore by royal. http://www.theroyalforums.com/forums...1&d=1108135030
Another beautiful gala gown wore by Queen Rania http://www.theroyalforums.com/forums...5&d=1108327690 and the similar gown wore by a model http://img474.imageshack.us/my.php?i...all20013wy.jpg (post by Humera)

I think Queen Sylvia is the lady who is most suitable for this thread as IMO of all present Queens she certainly wore the most beautiful gala dresses by far. My personal favorite is this one, here at the Nobel price gala of 1999 but first worn at her husbands 50th birthday party in 1996. I believe that the dress came from France, Dior maybe?

The gala gown Letizia in Frederik's pre-wedding gala wore is my favorite.
Letizia looks so classical and elegant.

I agree Marengo, Queen Silvia does look really pretty in that dress. I just wish she was smiling!

I love both of Letizia's gowns which she wore in Denmark. I like back of Silvia's gown (posted by Marengo).

This gown looks lovely both colour and style (specialy it's few from behind) but unfortunately (I think) it's sleeves style make Silvia's upper arms which are not that slim anymore very visible and her shoulder looked drop down. uhmmm... may be because of that Silvia doesn't smile happy. I agree that Silvia is still one of many royal who wore beautiful gala gown.

When I look at Princess Mary wearing the red gown (by the way, wonderful pictures, MII, thank you) I have the impression she wears as a necklace the tiara she used for her wedding, but I'm not sure about that, it's just an impression...am I wrong?

You're most welcome Olka :)

You are correct. HRH bridal tiara is a convertible piece and as a result the Crown Princess opted to wear the tiara as a necklace to the State Dinner in Sydney.

Thank you very much for your answer. :) I wasn't very sure about that tiara, now I know.

Princess Madeleine's Nobel 2006 gown was very beautiful. It was simple but there was beautiful detail, especially around the shoulders. Her tiara also looked very nice with the dress.

My two favorite Gala gowns are:

1. Princess Mary's red dress, I just love the top part and the rich red color:

2. Princess Diana's pearl gown, it's breathtaking! I wish I had a full length view of it:

The gown worn by Queen Silvia in 1996 for the 50th birthday & again in 99 at Nobel + the silver gown worn by her in Thailand a few years ago were truly 'Queenly'.
